*Crop Loan Disbursal by Solapur DCC Bank Triples in Six Years, Crosses Rs 1,370 Crore*
_91,268 farmers benefited in 2025-26; trust in district cooperative banks on the rise_
*Solapur, May 10*
The Solapur District Central Cooperative Bank (DCC), often called the economic pulse of the district, has recorded a threefold jump in crop loan disbursal over the last six years. Loans for Kharif and Rabi seasons rose from Rs 401 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 1,370 crore in 2025-26, with the number of beneficiary farmers more than doubling from 41,909 to 91,268.
The sharp rise is credited to special loan campaigns, branch-level follow-up, and stronger outreach through service cooperatives. After disbursing Rs 731 crore to 64,507 farmers in 2021-22, the bank crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark in 2022-23 with Rs 1,126 crore reaching 85,253 farmers. The upward trend continued with Rs 1,166 crore in 2023-24, Rs 1,309 crore in 2024-25, and Rs 1,370 crore so far in 2025-26.
*Meeting rising farm needs*
Bank officials said higher input costs for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation have increased farmers’ credit needs. With agriculture in Solapur largely dependent on rainfall, timely finance at the start of Kharif and Rabi seasons is critical. Crop loans are being used extensively for cultivation, irrigation, and purchase of inputs.
*Why farmers prefer DCC banks*
Compared to nationalized and private banks, DCC Bank offers relatively easier access to credit, especially through service cooperatives. This has brought major relief to small and medium farmers who form the backbone of rural Solapur.
*Focus on digital shift*
The bank now plans to expand coverage further while pushing digital transactions, online loan processing, and stronger branch-level services. The goal: reach more farmers faster and strengthen the district’s agricultural economy.
