ā€œMatri Devo Bhava, Pitri Devo Bhavaā€ (Mother is God, Father is God).
Embracing the sacred essence of our ancient culture and traditions, serving one’s parents in their old age is the highest virtue. Recognizing this devotion, the historic ā€˜Shravan Kumar Puraskar’—envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay)—has truly become a divine source of inspiration for our society. In today's fast-paced and materialistic era, where human sensitivities often fade, this initiative, born from your compassionate heart and visionary leadership, is far more than just an award. It is a grand campaign that reminds our entire society of its moral duties, cultural values, and family responsibilities.
While serving one’s parents is the supreme duty and religion of any child, I am deeply moved, proud, and humbled that my sincere efforts were deemed worthy of this prestigious recognition. This honor has granted me immense strength, energy, and self-belief to remain devoted at the feet of my parents for the rest of my life. Words fall short to express my boundless gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for this priceless honor and deeply inspiring vision.
Furthermore, I bow in profound appreciation to the entire local administration who worked tirelessly to identify genuine dedication from the grassroots level, ensuring a completely fair and transparent selection process. From the depths of my heart, I extend my sincerest thanks to the respected Panchayat President, Panchayat Members, Block Development Officer (BDO), Panchayat Inspector, and the entire administrative team involved in bringing us to this honorable stage.
I firmly believe that your positive vision and noble efforts will forever keep Sikkim alive as a highly cultured, dignified, and values-driven society. I pray to the Almighty for the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s long life, good health, and continued successful leadership.
With deep respect and immense gratitude,
Yam Nath Adhikari

Leadership without walls: serving the people, anytime, anywhere

16/08/2026

August 15, 2026, the grounds of Primary School, Patuk Kokale (est. 1979) in Gangtok, Sikkim, were painted in the colors of the Tiranga as we celebrated India's 80th Independence Day with immense pride, deep patriotism, and unity!
The atmosphere was electric with slogans of freedom, respect for the nation, and the undeniable strength of our unity in diversity. It was not just a celebration, but a profound tribute to our motherland and the sacrifices of our ancestors.

The morning kicked off with a serene temple puja, paving the way for the grand arrival of our Chief Guest, Mr. Rabin Prasad Sewa (Additional Registrar, Corporation Dept., Govt. of Sikkim). The Independence Day Celebration Committee (IDCC) extended a warm traditional welcome with Khadas, flowers, and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The presence of senior guests Mr. T.V. Guragai, Mr. Acharya Chhiring Lama, and respected Panchayat members further elevated the

A deeply emotional moment swept the crowd as the Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag. This was followed by a spectacularly disciplined parade by the students and the women of the Self-Help Group (SHG). The SHG women marching in sync to salute the flag—an inspiring initiative by IDCC President Mr. Harihar Guragain—was a historic and proud moment for women's empowerment in Sikkim!

Guided by the beautiful vision of Headmistress Mrs. Prem Kumari Chettri, a special tree plantation drive was conducted by our guests. To the soulful background tune of "Mere Desh Ki Dharti," we planted a pledge for nature conservation and a greener future for the next generation.
šŸŽ Cultural Extravaganza: Unity in Diversity
The stage came alive with Sikkim’s rich cultural tapestry! Following a sweet "Ish Vandana" by the toddlers, students from the host school and neighboring schools (Chade PS, Makha & Barang PS, and Children Preparatory School) delivered breathtaking performances. From patriotic songs and coordinated drills to vibrant Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali traditional dances, the collaborative spirit was truly magical.

Inspiring thoughts were shared by the Headmaster, followed by a deeply moving message from Mr. Harihar Guragain, who reminded the community: "We must focus on these young children today, for they are the ones who will carry the future of this village on their shoulders 15-20 years from now."

The afternoon perfectly balanced intellect, culture, and sports! Smiles were everywhere as kids enjoyed games like "picking sweets" and pyramid making. The energy peaked with an intense 'Best of Three' Volleyball match, pillow fighting for the boys, and "passing the ball" for the women.
A special mention to Senior Guest Mr. T.V. Guragai, who generously sponsored the volleyball trophy and cash prize in loving memory of his late mother, Smt. Ganga Maya Guragai.

During the prize distribution, Chief Guest Mr. Rabin Prasad Sewa urged everyone to work hand-in-hand to realize the Hon'ble Chief Minister’s vision for a progressive Sikkim.
A heartfelt thank you to the Kokale Youth Welfare Association, Sunkhari Club, Himal Jyoti Sangh, Patuk Singbel Panchayat volunteers, Raling Ward members, Ward Panchayat Mr. Ongdup Lepcha, retired teachers Mr. 😭. Bhutia & Mr. T.R. Nepal, retired BO Mr. T.P. Neupane, land donor Mr. Tekanath Guragai, and the entire teaching staff for your selfless dedication in making this grand event a massive success!
Leaving behind an indelible mark of patriotism, harmony, and hope for a golden future, this Independence Day will be remembered for years to come.
