Today, the Deputy Director Horticulture, Yangang, and HDO Yangang, conducted an extensive field visit along with VLW Agri-cum-Horticulture GPU In-charge, staff from Yangang and Lingee VLW Circle across multiple wards of our circle to review ongoing horticultural activities and interact with farmers.

Kaw Ward

1) The team first visited the vegetable field of Shri Pitambar Bhattarai, Kaw Ward, where valuable field-level observations were shared.

2) Mandarin Cultivation:
Thereafter, the team visited the mandarin orchard of Shri Joel Sampang Rai. The Deputy Director conducted an on-field training and demonstration on mandarin cultivation, with special emphasis on scientific mandarin pruning techniques, benefiting both farmers and departmental staff.

Chauridara Ward

1) Kiwi Cultivation:
The team then proceeded to Chauridara Ward, where kiwi farmers fields were inspected. An awareness programme along with a live demonstration on kiwi pruning and nursery management was conducted.
During the programme, the Deputy Director also distributed:
●Secateurs for stem cutting
●Poly pipes for irrigation
●COC
●Trichoderma

Lower Lingee

1) Tomato Cultivation:
The visit concluded at Lower Lingee with the inspection of the tomato field of Shri Bishnu Lall Adhikari, where poly pipes for irrigation were provided to support efficient water management.

We sincerely thank the Deputy Director, Horticulture and HDOYangang, for visiting our area, interacting directly with farmers, and sharing valuable technical insights. Such field-based guidance and support greatly motivate farmers and strengthen sustainable horticultural practices in our circle.

Namchi, Nov 5:
A Training-cum-Awareness and Distribution Programme on micro-irrigation systems under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) — Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component, was successfully organised today by the Agriculture Department of Namchi District at the Lingee Village Level Worker (VLW) Centre, Lingee-Sokpay cluster.
The programme was graced by the Honourable Area MLA of 16-Tumin Lingee Constituency and Chairman of STCS, Shri Samdup Tshering Bhutia, as Chief Guest. The event also witnessed the presence of OSD, Agriculture Department, OSD to HMLA, Additional Director (Agriculture) – Namchi District, SDM, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayat President and Panchayat Members, Vice President SKM, CLC President Tumin Lingee, General Secretary Tumin Lingee, Agriculture and Horticulture Departmental officials, and beneficiary farmers.

The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Vaishnu Rai, DDA.
Mrs. Nirmala Moktan, ADA enlightened the attending farmers on the ongoing departmental schemes and encouraged them to avail the benefits of the scheme.
Thereafter, Ms. Lila Gurung, JE, presented a technical session on Other Interventions (OI) and Micro Irrigation (MI) Systems, emphasising how water-saving technologies are instrumental in enhancing productivity and sustainability.
Mr Bhagirath Tiwari, Panchayat President, highlighted local production potential and urged farmers to engage proactively with the newly provided systems.
In his address, Chief Guest, Shri Samdup T. Bhutia, congratulated the 240 beneficiaries of the MI Programme. He urged them to make optimum use of the distributed MI systems while affirming his continued support and cooperation in all developmental activities aimed at improving farmer livelihoods.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Florenz Bhutia, ADO cm PMKSY Cluster incharge.
Under the scheme, a total of 240 beneficiaries received micro-irrigation tanks and accessories as part of the PMKSY-PDMC initiative — a programme designed to promote efficient water management, boost crop productivity, and ensure the judicious use of every drop of water.

This event marks another significant step forward in the government’s mission to empower farmers through sustainable and scientific agricultural practices.

On 17th October, the VLW along with the field staff conducted a field visit to Tintarbong Badamtam and Darakharka Ward to assess the crop status of Millet, Paddy, Beans, Rajma, and various horticultural and agricultural crops.

During the visit, the team interacted with farmers, collected their grievances related to crop health and productivity, and provided appropriate technical guidance and solutions to address the issues raised.

Such field inspections play a crucial role in monitoring crop performance, understanding challenges faced by farmers, and ensuring timely interventions for better agricultural outcomes.

Location: Darakharka Ward, Lingee VLW Circle
Date: 19th September 2025

A field visit and distribution programme was successfully conducted at Darakharka Ward under Lingee VLW Circle by the VLW along with field staff.

As part of the programme:

🔷️Pea seeds were distributed to 25 households to promote cluster-based cultivation and development in the ward.

🔷️The Ward Panchayat was also present during the distribution programme, encouraging farmers and extending support for the initiative.

🔷️The team further carried out field inspections of standing crops including millet, soybean, beans, and other vegetables, and provided necessary guidance to farmers.

The programme aimed to strengthen crop diversification, enhance farmer participation, and encourage collective farming practices for improved productivity in the region.

𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗨𝗠 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘 𝗔𝗧 𝗞𝗔𝗪

Yesterday, our VLW Circle successfully organized a Training on “Efficient Utilization of Draught Animal with Matching Agricultural Equipment” at Kaw, South Sikkim, under the guidance of VLW Lingee, Mr. Shiva Nath Chapagai.

The programme was organized by AICRP on MAH, CAEPHT, Ranipool in collaboration with the College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology (Central Agricultural University), Ranipool, Gangtok, Sikkim.

During the event, multiple modern agricultural equipment were showcased and demonstrated, highlighting how adopting technology in farming can make agricultural practices easier, more efficient, and highly beneficial for farmers.

The resource team also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of integrating technology into traditional farming systems for better productivity.

The programme concluded with the distribution of sickles to all the farmers who actively participated in the event.

Today, we had the privilege of attending the ongoing 79th Independence Day celebration at Lingee Sr. Sec. School playground as Chief Guest and Special Guests. Our VLW graced the programme as the Chief Guest, and other members of our team attended as Special Guests. The event featured three exciting football matches and two cultural programmes.

During the visit, our VLW and team also toured the school’s Green House unit. We encouraged the school to utilize it to its full potential. Lingee VLW Circle assures Lingee Sr. Secondary School that we will provide the necessary seeds and pesticides, and extend guidance to both students and teachers to make the greenhouse fully productive with vegetables.

We sincerely thank the Independence Day Celebration Committee (IDCC) Lingee for inviting us and giving us the honor to witness today’s programme.

Today, under our VLW Centre, a total of 4,000 banana saplings (variety: G9)were successfully distributed to the farmers across our VLW Circle with the vision of promoting cluster farming and enhancing income opportunities for our farming community.

The distribution programme was graced by the presence of our Hon’ble Panchayat President, 01-Lingee Sokpay GPU and Hon’ble ward panchayat, pepthang ward , whose encouragement and support always inspire our collective progress.

We urge all our farmers to adopt cluster-based cultivation models, which not only ensure better productivity but also improve market linkage and long-term sustainability.
We assure our farmers of timely support, technical guidance, and regular follow-ups to help overcome any challenges faced during the cultivation process.

Today, a successful Training-cum-Distribution Programme of Sikkim Mandarin under MIDH 2025–26 was conducted at Lingee VLW Centre in the presence of officials from the Horticulture Department, Yangang, including the Deputy Director, HDO Yangang, VLW Lingee, and staff.

The programme was graced by:
Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Member, Lingee Paiyong Zilla Territory as Chief Guest,
Panchayat President, 01-Lingee Sokpay GPU, Panchayat Member, Tintarbong Ward, 02-Lingmoo Paiyong GPU and
CLC President, 16-Tumin Lingee Constituency.
The Deputy Director shared valuable insights on Sikkim Mandarin cultivation, emphasizing cluster-based farming, pest management, and the use of pheromone traps to tackle fruit flies. The Panchayat President also motivated farmers to adopt Sikkim Mandarin and make full use of horticulture schemes.

The event concluded with a practical demonstration session and distribution of saplings to the farmers.
