A Red Lady papaya sapling distribution programme was conducted under Lingee VLW Circle on 18th August 2026 to promote papaya cultivation among farmers.
The programme was graced by the Honโ€™ble Panchayat President of 01-Lingee Sokpay GPU, along with field staff from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments and farmers from the VLW Circle.

A brief technical orientation was provided to the farmers on pit preparation, recommended spacing, pest and disease management, and expected productivity, with emphasis on proper establishment and management of the crop.

The programme aims to encourage scientific papaya cultivation and diversification towards high-value fruit crops among farmers of the area.

Today, the Deputy Director Horticulture, Yangang, and HDO Yangang, conducted an extensive field visit along with VLW Agri-cum-Horticulture GPU In-charge, staff from Yangang and Lingee VLW Circle across multiple wards of our circle to review ongoing horticultural activities and interact with farmers.

Kaw Ward

1) The team first visited the vegetable field of Shri Pitambar Bhattarai, Kaw Ward, where valuable field-level observations were shared.

2) Mandarin Cultivation:
Thereafter, the team visited the mandarin orchard of Shri Joel Sampang Rai. The Deputy Director conducted an on-field training and demonstration on mandarin cultivation, with special emphasis on scientific mandarin pruning techniques, benefiting both farmers and departmental staff.

Chauridara Ward

1) Kiwi Cultivation:
The team then proceeded to Chauridara Ward, where kiwi farmers fields were inspected. An awareness programme along with a live demonstration on kiwi pruning and nursery management was conducted.
During the programme, the Deputy Director also distributed:

โ—Poly pipes for irrigation
โ—COC
โ—Trichoderma

Lower Lingee

1) Tomato Cultivation:
The visit concluded at Lower Lingee with the inspection of the tomato field of Shri Bishnu Lall Adhikari, where poly pipes for irrigation were provided to support efficient water management.

We sincerely thank the Deputy Director, Horticulture and HDOYangang, for visiting our area, interacting directly with farmers, and sharing valuable technical insights. Such field-based guidance and support greatly motivate farmers and strengthen sustainable horticultural practices in our circle.

Namchi, Nov 5:
A Training-cum-Awareness and Distribution Programme on micro-irrigation systems under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) โ€” Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component, was successfully organised today by the Agriculture Department of Namchi District at the Lingee Village Level Worker (VLW) Centre, Lingee-Sokpay cluster.
The programme was graced by the Honourable Area MLA of 16-Tumin Lingee Constituency and Chairman of STCS, Shri Samdup Tshering Bhutia, as Chief Guest. The event also witnessed the presence of OSD, Agriculture Department, OSD to HMLA, Additional Director (Agriculture) โ€“ Namchi District, SDM, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayat President and Panchayat Members, Vice President SKM, CLC President Tumin Lingee, General Secretary Tumin Lingee, Agriculture and Horticulture Departmental officials, and beneficiary farmers.

The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Vaishnu Rai, DDA.
Mrs. Nirmala Moktan, ADA enlightened the attending farmers on the ongoing departmental schemes and encouraged them to avail the benefits of the scheme.
Thereafter, Ms. Lila Gurung, JE, presented a technical session on Other Interventions (OI) and Micro Irrigation (MI) Systems, emphasising how water-saving technologies are instrumental in enhancing productivity and sustainability.
Mr Bhagirath Tiwari, Panchayat President, highlighted local production potential and urged farmers to engage proactively with the newly provided systems.
In his address, Chief Guest, Shri Samdup T. Bhutia, congratulated the 240 beneficiaries of the MI Programme. He urged them to make optimum use of the distributed MI systems while affirming his continued support and cooperation in all developmental activities aimed at improving farmer livelihoods.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Florenz Bhutia, ADO cm PMKSY Cluster incharge.
Under the scheme, a total of 240 beneficiaries received micro-irrigation tanks and accessories as part of the PMKSY-PDMC initiative โ€” a programme designed to promote efficient water management, boost crop productivity, and ensure the judicious use of every drop of water.

This event marks another significant step forward in the governmentโ€™s mission to empower farmers through sustainable and scientific agricultural practices.
