🌿 Plantation Drive at Upper Sumin 🌿

Today, a plantation program was successfully organized at Upper Sumin with the aim of promoting environmental conservation and creating a greener future for our village.

The program was graced by the presence of respected Zilla Madam Panchayat Members,AD Sir, JE Madam, PDA Sir, VAA Sir, PAA Sir, other departmental staff, and the enthusiastic participation of our villagers and the general public.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined hands in this meaningful initiative. Every sapling planted today is a step towards a cleaner environment, better air quality, and a sustainable future for the coming generations.

On the auspicious occasion of Panchayati Raj Day, 24th April 2026, the Panchayat Team of 28. Sumin Lingzey GPU, along with the Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat members and all staff, undertook a Study-cum-Exposure Tour to 28. Gyalsing Omchung GPU, West Sikkim.

During the visit, the team had the opportunity to attend a Special Gram Sabha and the Panchayati Raj Day celebration programme. An interactive session was also conducted, where valuable ideas, experiences, and best practices were shared, providing meaningful insights for strengthening grassroots governance.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Panchayat President of 28. Sumin Lingzey GPU addressed the gathering and spoke about the significance of the programme and the importance of Panchayati Raj Day.

The tour proved to be highly fruitful and enriching for all members. The team of 28. Sumin Lingzey GPU extends its sincere gratitude to the 28. Gyalsing Omchung GPU team for their warm welcome and gracious hospitality.

The District Collector of Pakyong, Sikkim (dated 24/02/2026) has issued an advisory due to severe water scarcity in the district. With Holi approaching on 4th March 2026, the public is advised to avoid using water for celebrations, including water balloons and water guns. Individuals, groups, and institutions are requested not to use water for recreational purposes. Local authorities have been directed to ensure public awareness and compliance in the interest of managing the ongoing water crisis.

Today's Programme
The Social Audit Jansunwai of MGNREGA for the 28th Sumin Lingzey Gram
Panchayat Unit (GPU) was successfully conducted today in a transparent and participatory manner. The programme was chaired by the Hon'ble Zilla Panchayat Madam,whose esteemed presence greatly enriched the proceedings. The Jansunwai was further honoured by the presence of the Hon'ble Vice President Sir, respected Panchayat Members from all wards, and the dedicated officials and staff of the Sumin Lingzey GPU.

A large number of MGNREGA Job Card holders from all six wards attended the Jansunwai and actively participated by sharing their views, experiences, and grievances related to the implementation of MGNREGA works. The interactive session provided a platform for open discussion, ensuring transparency, accountability, and public participation in the ex*****on of MGNREGA schemes.
The Social Audit Jansunwai concluded successfully with constructive deliberations and reaffirmed the commitment of the Panchayat and concerned authorities towards effective implementation, social accountability, and inclusive rural development under MGNREGA.
