*** Two Persons Arrested with Brown Sugar by Siliguri Police ***

Acting on credible information, a police team of Bagdogra Police Station, in coordination with the SOG under Siliguri Police Commissionerate, apprehended two persons, namely (i) Md. Ektarul SK (52 years), resident of Kaliachak, Malda, and (ii) Smt. Namita Barman (37 years), resident of Sitalkuchi, Coochbehar, from Jangli Baba More, beside AH-2, on 05.09.2026.

During the search, one packet containing suspected brown sugar weighing approximately 294 grams, along with cash amounting to Rs. 1,520/- and two mobile phones, was recovered from their joint possession and seized in accordance with due legal procedure. All procedures relating to the search, seizure, and arrest were duly carried out in compliance with the provisions and guidelines of the NDPS Act.

A specific case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Bagdogra Police Station. Further investigation is in progress.

*** শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশের দ্বারা ব্রাউন সুগার সহ দুইজন গ্রেপ্তার ***

বিশ্বাসযোগ্য তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে, বাগডোগরা থানার একটি পুলিশ দল, শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের অধীনস্থ এসওজি-র সমন্বয়ে, ০৫.০৯.২০২৬ তারিখে এএইচ-২ সংলগ্ন জংলি বাবা মোড় থেকে দুইজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করে। তারা হলেন, (i) মালদার কালিয়াচকের বাসিন্দা মহম্মদ একতারুল এসকে (৫২ বছর) এবং (ii) কোচবিহারের শীতলকুচির বাসিন্দা শ্রীমতি নমিতা বর্মন (৩৭ বছর)।

তল্লাশির সময়, তাদের যৌথ দখল থেকে প্রায় ২৯৪ গ্রাম ওজনের সন্দেহজনক ব্রাউন সুগারের একটি প্যাকেট, সাথে ১,৫২০/- টাকা নগদ এবং দুটি মোবাইল ফোন উদ্ধার করা হয় এবং যথাযথ আইনি প্রক্রিয়া অনুসারে তা বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়। তল্লাশি, বাজেয়াপ্তকরণ এবং গ্রেপ্তার সংক্রান্ত সমস্ত প্রক্রিয়া এনডিপিএস আইনের বিধান ও নির্দেশিকা মেনে যথাযথভাবে সম্পন্ন করা হয়েছিল।

বাগডোগরা থানায় এনডিপিএস আইনের অধীনে একটি নির্দিষ্ট মামলা নথিভুক্ত করা হয়েছে। আরও তদন্ত চলছে।

*** One Person Arrested with Illicit Liquor ***

Acting on specific source information, the plain-clothes team of Pradhan Nagar Police Station under the Siliguri Police Commissionerate conducted a raid at Coolipara on 04.09.2026 and arrested Nikhil Kr Sahani (21), a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Coolipara, P.S. Pradhan Nagar, District Darjeeling. During the operation, a total of 31 bottles of b**r were recovered and seized from his possession. One scooty was also seized in connection with the case.

A specific case under the relevant provisions of the Bengal Excise Act has been registered at Pradhan Nagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

*** অবৈধ মদসহ এক ব্যক্তি গ্রেপ্তার ***

সুনির্দিষ্ট তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে, শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের অন্তর্গত প্রধাননগর থানার সাদা পোশাকের একটি দল ০৪.০৯.২০২৬ তারিখে কুলিপাড়ায় অভিযান চালিয়ে নিখিল কুমার সাহানি (২১)-কে গ্রেপ্তার করে। তিনি দার্জিলিং জেলার প্রধাননগর থানার অন্তর্গত কুলিপাড়ার রাজেন্দ্র নগরের বাসিন্দা। এই অভিযানের সময় তাঁর কাছ থেকে মোট ৩১ বোতল বিয়ার উদ্ধার ও বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়। এছাড়াও এই ঘটনার প্রেক্ষিতে একটি স্কুটি বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে।

প্রধাননগর থানায় 'বেঙ্গল এক্সাইজ অ্যাক্ট'-এর সংশ্লিষ্ট ধারায় একটি সুনির্দিষ্ট মামলা রুজু করা হয়েছে এবং ঘটনার পরবর্তী তদন্ত চলছে।
