**World Environment Day Celebration – 5 June 2026**

Today, Siliguri Government Polytechnic observed World Environment Day with enthusiasm and a commitment to environmental protection. The celebration highlighted the importance of sustainable living, conservation of natural resources, and collective action for a greener future. Activities such as tree plantation, environmental awareness programs, cleanliness drives, and student participation reinforced the message that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

Polytechnic
A. Age Criteria
For admission to 1st year of Polytechnics, there is no upper age limit, but candidate’s Date of Birth should not be after 01.07.2011. For admission to 2nd year of Polytechnics, there is no age limit.
B. Qualification Criteria
1st Year: Passed / Appearing Madhyamik or Class 10 equivalent Board Examinations with Science / Physical Science and Mathematics from any recognized Board / Council / Institute.
2nd Year: Passed / Appearing Higher Secondary or 10+2 Board Examination or equivalent examination with any one of the subjects of Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics /Information Technology / Biology / Informatics Practices / Biotechnology /Technical Vocational subject / Agriculture / Engineering Graphics /Business Studies /Entrepreneurship from any recognized Board / Council/ Institute
OR,
Passed / Appearing Higher Secondary (Vocational) Examination of WBSCT&VE&SD
OR,
Passed 10th + 2 years ITI (continuous) in annual system or semester system shall be eligible for admission to Second Year in any branch of Engineering and Technology.

Industrial Training Institutes (ITI)
A. Age Criteria
For admission to ITIs, Minimum age limit: 14 years of age as on 01.08.2026, i.e. born before 01.08.2012. There is no upper age limit.
B. Qualification Criteria
E Group: Passed/ Appearing Class 8 or Equivalent Examination from a School situated in West Bengal.
M Group: Passed/ Appearing Madhyamik or Class 10 Equivalent board examination from a school situated in West Bengal.

Pool Campus Drive Birla Tyres at SILIGURI GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC

A Pool Campus Drive by Birla Tyres is successfully organized on 7th and 8th April 2026.

Students from the following Polytechnic institutes participated enthusiastically:
AGP, FAL, COB, SGP, DAR, IGP, ITA, JAL, and RAJ

Candidates from EE, ME, EIE, and EEE departments took part in the drive.

A total of 187 students participated in the recruitment process. The selection process consisted of two rounds of interviews.

The event was conducted smoothly with active participation from all institutions...
