A review meeting was convened on 18th December 2025 at the Sukafa Conference Hall, DC Office, Sivasagar, under the chairmanship of the Honâble Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and PWRD , Shri Krishnendu Paul. The meeting was organised to assess the progress, performance, and effective implementation of various developmental programmes being executed in the district under the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, and the Public Works Department (R-PMGSY).
The meeting was graced by the presence of Shri Sushanta Borgohain, Honâble MLA, Thowra Constituency. Senior officials who participated in the review included Shri Gauri Shankar Das, Director, Fishery Department; Dr. Jayanta Kumar Goswami, Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department; Dr. Dibjyoti Hanse, BO(Planning), Veterinary Department; and Shri Chandan Chetri, State Nodal Officer, PMMSY, Fishery Department.
District-level administration was represented by Shri Aayush Garg, District Commissioner, Sivasagar; Shri Pabitra Krishna Das, District Development Commissioner, Sivasagar; and Smti. K. N. Chandana Jahnavi, Assistant Commissioner, Sivasagar. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Honâble MLA, Amguri, the Superintending Engineer (PWRD), District Fishery Development Officer (DFDO), District Veterinary Officer (DVO), and other concerned officers from the respective departments.
During the review, detailed discussions were held on the progress of ongoing and proposed projects, scheme-wise performance, and implementation challenges. The concerned departments were directed to expedite pending works, resolve issues through coordinated efforts, and ensure transparent and public-oriented service delivery. Specific instructions were issued for strict enforcement of the Assam Fisheries Act and Rules, wide publicity of the fishing ban period through social media, planning for the establishment of a brood bank in Sivasagar district for upper Assam division, and preparation of a proposal for the revival of the Superintendent of Fisheries Training Institute, Joysagar.The meeting reaffirmed the Governmentâs focus on strengthening the fisheries sector in Sivasagar district.
