CSC SPV to set up 300 Farmer producer organisations (FPOs) in J&K. It has so far established 39 FPOs.
Farmer producer organisations (FPOs) are agricultural cooperatives that are emerging as a practical approach towards empowering a great number of smallholder farmers and ensuring their prosperity. In India where agriculture is the primary source of income for millions of farmers, they play a significant role in improving marginalised farmers access to resources, which further helps boost their agri-productivity and their incomes. FPO is a means of actively engaging farmers in the development process. FPOs will be provided financial assistance up to Rs 18 lakh per FPO for a period of 3 years. Adding to it, provision has been made for matching equity grant up to Rs 2,000 per farmer member of FPO with a limit of Rs 15 lakh per FPO and a credit guarantee facility up to Rs 2 crore of project loan per FPO.
CSC will help in extension, supplying inputs, purchase produce, store the inputs and produce at FPO level, lease farm equipment, extend loan/ credit to farmers, provide cold storage facility and insurance, pension for all farmers.
Please contact your District Manager if you want to register for FPO.
