Entrepreneurship Mela under Mission YUVA organised at GDC Zainapora Shopian

Employment department calls upon youth to register through Mission Yuva for livelihood generation

SHOPIAN, Feb 21, 2026: A vibrant Entrepreneurship Mela under the flagship Mission YUVA initiative was organized today at GDC Zainapora by the Department of Employment, Shopian.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from young and aspiring entrepreneurs from various parts of the district.

Participants were briefed in detail about the benefits, eligibility criteria and modalities of various self-employment schemes. A live demonstration of the Mission YUVA mobile application and online portal was also conducted, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience in accessing scheme-related services.

Employment department urged youth to register under Mission YUVA and actively avail the benefits of the programme, and also assured full support to the aspiring entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

As part of the mela, successful entrepreneurs from diverse sectors shared their inspiring success stories and challenges faced during their entrepreneurial journey.

A dedicated Help Desk for Mission YUVA was also set up at the venue to acquaint participants about the initiative, assist in registrations, and guide them through the use of the app and portal.

The award was conferred for the officer’s significant contribution to the effective implementation of Mission YUVA and for actively promoting employment generation, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment in District Shopian.

*Shopian, 30 December 2025:*
A Women Entrepreneurship and Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela under Mission YUVA was today organised by the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DE&CC), Shopian at Government Degree College (GDC), Shopian.

The objective of the Mela was to promote awareness about Mission YUVA among SHGs of the district by sensitising them through awareness sessions, enterprise showcasing, mentoring, and on-ground application support.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Employment Officer, DE&CC Shopian, who briefed the participants and SHG members about the benefits of the Mission YUVA App and its associated schemes. He highlighted the role of Mission YUVA in providing access to skill development opportunities, financial assistance, and employment-related information.

While addressing the gathering, the Employment Officer stated that in today’s dynamic economic landscape, entrepreneurship is no longer just an option but a necessity. He emphasised that Mission YUVA aims to empower youth—especially women—by enabling them to become job creators rather than job seekers.

More than 250 SHG members from across District Shopian participated in the event. Faculty members and resource persons from concerned institutions conducted training and mentoring sessions, while YUVA Doots actively facilitated awareness and on-ground application support.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, during which best-performing SHGs were awarded mementos in recognition of their efforts and achievements. The Career Counselling Officer proposed the formal vote of thanks to the guests, dignitaries, and resource persons.

**Udhyam Yuva Fest Celebrated at Govt. Polytechnic College Shopian**

Shopian, [27-09-2025]: The Govt Polytechnic College Shopian in collabration DE&CC shopian today hosted the **Udhyam Yuva Fest**, a vibrant celebration of youth talent, skill development, and entrepreneurship. The event brought together students, faculty, government officials, and budding entrepreneurs in a shared spirit of innovation and self-reliance.

Dr. Nasir Wani, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, graced the occasion as the **Chief Guest**. The event was also attended by the Principal ITI Shopian, AD Employment and others officers & officials of Employment Department and several successful entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and insights with the young participants.

The program began with an **inaugural address by the Govt Principal of Polytechnic Shopian shri manzoor Ahmad Kumar**, who highlighted the importance of organizing such festivals to encourage skill-based learning and entrepreneurial spirit among the youth.

Mr. Aslam, Employment Officer, delivered a detailed presentation on **Mission Yuva**, elaborating on the various government initiatives and opportunities available for the younger generation. The **Superintendent of ITI Shopian shri Fida Hussain underscored the need to embrace entrepreneurship as a career choice and emphasized its vital role in realizing the vision of **Mission YUVA**.

The highlight of the fest was the recognition of talent across multiple competitions. The **toppers of quiz, essay writing, painting, and speech competitions** were felicitated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Nasir Ahmad lone, ADDC shopian. Their achievements were celebrated as a testament to the creativity, knowledge, and skills of the district’s youth.

The event concluded with a warm **vote of thanks by Shri Shahid Khowja**, acknowledging the contributions of all dignitaries, participants, and organizers who made the fest a grand success.

The **Udhyam Yuva Fest** reaffirmed the collective commitment of institutions, government bodies, and community stakeholders to empower the youth of Shopian, nurture their entrepreneurial aspirations, and contribute to the larger national mission of building a self-reliant India.

*225 Cases approved in DLIC meeting under Mission YUVA held at Shopian*

SHOPIAN, August 22: The meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) under Mission YUVA was held today in Shopian under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta,IAS

The meeting aimed to review and approve applications received under the Mission YUVA initiative, designed to foster youth entrepreneurship and self-employment.

A total of 225 applications verified by the SBDU, were presented for consideration. Following a comprehensive evaluation based on eligibility, business viability and the applicant's socio-economic background, all applications were approved for financial assistance and handholding support under the Mission YUVA framework.

Addressing the committee, DDC emphasized the vital role of self-employment in empowering youth, instructing all departments to ensure timely fund disbursement, robust monitoring and dedicated mentoring to guarantee the sustainability of the supported ventures.

During the meeting, Gupta underscored the importance of expanding outreach activities, organizing awareness camps and conducting mobile registration drives to ensure the benefits of Mission YUVA reach every eligible youth in the district.

“Mission YUVA is not just a scheme, it is a movement to promote innovation, self-reliance and employment generation,” he stated, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to continuous support and monitoring.

The meeting concluded with a united resolve among members to turn Mission YUVA into a model of success and a key pillar of district development, advancing youth-led entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods across Shopian.
