I don't know about other docs, I will write only about myself....
It happens almost every day that I waive off my consultation fee for someone extremely poor, or a relative , or a friend, or a relative of a friend, someone I knew when I was a child.... endless list...
I can recall at least some 50 to 100 people in my Facebook friends list who have contacted me for opinion, WhatsApp consultation , telephonic consultation , one on one consultation or surgical procedures...
If you can imagine the amount of charity I do on a monthly basis, it would amount to some ten twenty thousand rupees!
Isn't it pathetic that not even ONE of these people have an empathy for doctors?
Not a single comment condemning a brutal attack on a Medical Intern?
I feel betrayed by my non medico friends...I feel cheated! I know what most of them are thinking..."Good the doctors are getting beaten to death...they deserve it because they ask for money!".
Violence perpetrated against Doctors as inexcusable. There should be zero tolerance against any form of violence and abuse against Doctors in any form.
Doctors need a safe working environment everywhere and anywhere in this country. They work tirelessly, under severe mental stress first to train and then to save lives. Nobody can perform his/her duty under the added stress of physical and verbal abuse. These incidents bring down the already lowered morale of the medical fraternity.
STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST DOCTORS
