✨ Raula Festival – A Unique Cultural Heritage of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh ✨

Raula (Raulane) is an ancient tribal festival celebrated in the picturesque region of Kalpa in Kinnaur district. Rooted in local traditions and spiritual beliefs, the festival is dedicated to invoking the blessings of village deities and protective mountain spirits for prosperity, well-being, and a successful agricultural season.

Celebrated in early spring, usually around the Holi period, the festival continues for several days and features vibrant rituals, traditional music, community gatherings, and cultural performances that reflect the rich heritage of the Kinnauri people.

The Paldi Fagli (also called Paldi Faguli) is a centuries-old mask-dance festival celebrated in thati bir (and nearby area), Banjar Valley (Kullu district). It is deeply rooted in local Hindu faith and folk culture . Traditionally held in mid-January (around the Magh month), it marks the transition toward spring and includes rituals aimed at warding off winter’s evils and praying for rain, good harvests and village prosperity. The festival is devoted to local deities, as devotees begin with temple worship before the dances . In essence, Paldi Fagli (like other Banjar-area Fagli festivals) serves as a living heritage – a “vibrant symbol of regional faith” that reinforces social harmony and the community’s identity.
