The Pine Home Eco-Tourism Model Project was inaugurated on August 17, 2026, at Mawlangwir village, South West Khasi Hills District. The Chief Guest, Shri. Conrad K. Sangma, HCM, delivered the keynote speech, while Smt. Rosetta M. Kurbah, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, provided the welcome address. Shri. Prestone Tynsong, Dy. CM graced the occasion as guest of honour; Other officials included Dr. Shakil P. Ahammad, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya; and Smti. Aitinolin Mawlong, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District.
The program featured the unveiling of the inaugural stone for the Pine Home Eco-Sustainable Project, the felicitation of community members and architects, and the distribution of cheques to tourism beneficiaries. Additionally, Meghalaya’s first open-air museum, the Twahlongwar Open Air Museum, was inaugurated remotely during the event through a video showcasing the museum. K*m. Naphibahun Lyngdoh, who envisioned and developed the museum, was also felicitated on this occasion.
Pine Home is designed to serve as both a place for hospitality and a hub for the community, acting as a practical example of ecological design that blends sustainability, local expertise, and responsible tourism.
