Today, Smt R M Kurbah, IAS inaugurated the locality beautification project at Mawlai Iewrynghep in the presence of Shri S Warjri, MCS Additional Deputy Commissioner, Smt D Lyngdoh, MCS BDO Mawlai, District Officers and locality members. The project is constructed from funds sanctioned under Locality Beautification Enhancement Project which aims to rejuvenate and beautify the towns and localities of Meghalaya, enhance and drive tourism experience in urban areas of Meghalaya and to empower community institutions and instil a sense of civic pride.

Iewrynghep locality is one of the 17 localities that fall under Mawlai. According to the oral history passed down by the elders, the locality was before the year 1840 . The main livelihood of the people during that time was quarrying stones from the rock deposits in Iewrynghep.

In the past, monoliths (mawbynna) were placed in various parts of Iewrynghep. However, with the construction of schools and other buildings, many of these monoliths were removed. As a way to preserve the history and legacy of Iewrynghep locality, three monoliths have been erected as a reminder of the village's origins, so that future generations may know the history of Iewrynghep and the greater Mawlai area.

The District Skills Development Office under the ambit of Meghalaya State Skills Development Society today distributed certificates to many youth of East Khasi Hills District who have completed skills development training programs in Dress making and Data Entry Operator. The training program was conducted in collaboration with Belfonte community College as the Skill Training Provider.
The objective of the trainings is to equip your youth with the required skills to make them market ready and become entrepreneurs. The need of the hour is a paradigm shift from job seekers to job creators.
Skills development initiatives conducted by the Government of Meghalaya is the solution to the employment problem.
We encourage youth to visit our Skills Development Office in DC office to avail of the opportunities to enhance their skills in various trades for self employment and placements in reputed companies.

The District Disaster Management Authority EKH District in collaboration with the NDRF conducted a five days familiarisation program in Shillong which primarily aims to acquaint personnel with the district and obtain updated information about their areas of responsibility. This ensures the timely and effective launch of rescue operations, leveraging a comprehensive amalgamation of all available resources in the event of a disaster.
Additionally, the exercises seeks to gather data on routes and hazard profiles, document the history of disasters in the area, compile essential maps, telephone directories, and update the inventory of available resources.
includes SSP (School Safety Programme) and other exercises like how to use First Aid, Choking, fire extinguisher, CPR, demonstrating equipment and other basic life saving techniques etc.
The exercises were conducted at KV EAC, KV Laitkor, O/o BDO Mawpat, Nursing school Civil hospital and Deputy Commissioner's office Shillong.

Today, the District Level Committee presented the Draft Water Security Plan for East Khasi Hills District before the Hon’ble Members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. The Draft Water Security Plan aims at evaluating as to whether the District is Water surplus or deficit, prioritise interventions, plan and allocated resources effectively and develops tailored solutions for sustainable water management.
Prepared as part of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the rain campaign, this plan aims at rain water conservation by building a robust rain water harvesting system, reduce surface water runoff, promote natural resource management, recharge ground water and renovate existing water bodies.
