A VDP Affirmation & Awareness Programme was conducted today at Lubia village under Shella PS, where VDP members were administered oath and sensitized on the ill-effects of drug abuse, provisions of POCSO Act, cyber crimes and the menace of mob lynching to strengthen community participation in policing.

THEFT CASE: ACCUSED APPREHENDED & GOLD ORNAMENTS RECOVERED

On 30.08.2026, FIR received regarding a house theft at Riatsohkhlur where gold ornaments, a Redmi Note-10 mobile phone and ₹10,000 cash were reported stolen. The incident was captured on CCTV. Acting swiftly, police traced and apprehended the alleged accused, Evertumshine Eawphian (24), at Iew Ajmera on 31.08.2026. Based on his disclosure, police recovered the stolen gold earrings and gold finger ring from a drain near 101 Area Bus Stand. A case vide Lumdiengjri PS case no 106/2026 U/S 305(a)/331(4) BNS was registered and further investigation is underway to apprehend the other persons allegedly involved in the incident.

BiKE THIEVES BUSTED | MAWSYNRAM
Acting swiftly on reliable information on 27.08.2026 regarding the attempted sale of 3 suspected stolen motorbikes at Weiloi, Mawsynram Police laid an ambush and apprehended 3 bike thieves from Tamulpur, Assam. One suspect managed to escape into the jungle. Search is on to nab him. All 3 suspects have been taken into custody for verification and necessary legal action.
