The year 2025 marks the 150th Anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, our revered National Song, composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Navami, observed on 7th November, 1875.

This timeless composition, which invokes the Motherland as the embodiment of strength, prosperity, and divine grace, beautifully captures the awakening spirit of India’s unity, patriotism, and self-respect. “Vande Mataram” soon transcended the realm of mere poetry to become an enduring symbol of devotion and reverence toward the nation, inspiring countless freedom fighters and patriots during India’s struggle for independence.

In commemoration of this momentous milestone, the South West Khasi Hills District Executive Force (DEF) organized a special observance to celebrate the 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, during which officers and personnel came together in a solemn and spirited atmosphere to sing the national song in unison. The event served not only as a tribute to Bankimchandra Chatterji’s immortal creation, but also as a reaffirmation of the ideals of unity, sacrifice, and love for the Motherland that the song so profoundly embodies.
