📢 Aadhaar Enrolment & Biometric Update Camps in Meghalaya

Aadhaar enrolment and update camps are being intensified across all districts to ensure last-mile coverage, especially in uncovered and remote pockets, with the goal of achieving 100% Aadhaar coverage in the State.
In Addition,
👧 Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) is required for children aged 5–7 years and 15–17 years. Failure to complete the update may lead to temporary deactivation of Aadhaar, which may affect access to scholarships, examinations, and welfare schemes.

🏫 Special Aadhaar camps are being conducted in schools.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents are requested to ensure that their children are Aadhaar enrolled and that the required biometric updates are completed within the prescribed age groups.

Residents are encouraged to avail Aadhaar enrolment and update services during the camps being organised across the districts.

Alternatively, services may also be availed at Aadhaar Enrolment Centres located at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Offices and Block Development Officer (BDO) Offices. As per the Aadhaar Act, UIDAI is mandated to issue Aadhaar numbers only to individuals who have resided in India for at least 182 days in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application.

In line with the Supreme Court of India’s landmark judgment, UIDAI ensures strict adherence to this mandate and does not issue Aadhaar numbers to individuals who do not meet the prescribed residency criteria, including those without legal status in the country.

This upholds the integrity of the Aadhaar ecosystem while ensuring benefits reach genuine residents.

Aadhaar serves as a trusted proof of identity and is built on a scalable digital platform, enabling the efficient and transparent delivery of a wide range of services.
