Sankirang L. Khongwir, filmmaker, conservationist, and cultural advocate from Shillong, Meghalaya, is known for his work at the intersection of storytelling, indigenous knowledge, and ecological preservation. His award-winning short film Ka Pateng has been widely recognised for its direction, performances, and cinematography, while his contribution on the Jingkieng Jri / Lyu Chrai Cultural Landscape (The Living Root Bridges of Meghalaya) is deeply rooted in community knowledge and lived traditions shaped by and amplifying local voices. This approach has been presented at international heritage platforms, including ICOMOS GA23 in Sydney.
Co-founder of Elsewhat Entertainment and CEO of Syrwet U Barim, he works across global and local platforms to document, conserve, and reimagine place-based narratives rooted in community and culture.
