IIM Rohtak is the eighth IIM approved by the Union Cabinet on August 27, 2009. Incidentally it is also North India’s first IIM, and the only IIM in the Delhi-NCR region. The institute is being mentored by IIM Lucknow in its formative years. The institute started functioning on June 30, 2010 from its temporary campus located in Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak. The permanent campus is un

der construction at township of Sunaria near Rohtak city. The institute offers: 2 year flagship Post-Graduate Programme in Management & a Fellow Programme in Management. The programme intends to produce world-class managers and leaders through its philosophy of exposing students to real life unstructured situations apart from imbibing them with knowledge of the analytical tools and business philosophies required to be a success in the current, and foreseeable, economic scenario. A case based method of pedagogy is being followed by the institute to this effect.

IIM Rohtak was privileged to host Vijay Shankar, Vice President at Ogilvy, for an engaging session on “The Content-to-Commerce Loop: Executing Strategy on Social Surfaces.” The session offered valuable insights into how brands translate consumer understanding into effective marketing strategies in today’s digital-first landscape.

Beginning with the question, “Do you know how to make Maggi?”, Mr. Shankar introduced the “Maggi System” to illustrate how consumer journeys help uncover insights that shape marketing strategies. He also shared examples from leading brands and discussed the growing role of AI in marketing.

IIM Rohtak had the privilege of hosting Professor Aswath Damodaran, Professor of Finance at NYU Stern School of Business and widely regarded as the “Dean of Valuation,” for a compelling session on “Impact of AI on Finance Careers.” Drawing from decades of experience in valuation and teaching, Professor Damodaran shared thoughtful perspectives on navigating an AI-driven world.

The session moved beyond technical frameworks to explore how artificial intelligence interacts with human judgment and decision-making. Professor Damodaran highlighted the importance of thinking in principles rather than just following rules and the power of combining stories with numbers in sound valuation. He encouraged students to strengthen their reasoning skills and build lasting personal strengths in a rapidly changing world.

IIM Rohtak was delighted to host Mr. Pranov Mishra, Executive Director and Product Director (AI & Automation) at JPMorgan Chase, for an engaging session on the evolution of leadership and technology. Mr. Mishra provided students with a deep dive into the fundamental shift from traditional tools to intelligent agentic systems, emphasizing that while AI is becoming increasingly capable of reasoning and communication, the human element in leadership is more important than ever.

During the session, he explored the transition from ‘Discriminative AI to Generative AI’, which creates new content and code based on learned patterns. He highlighted that the success of modern organizations depends on leaders who move beyond simple authority to become “Decision Architects,” designing end-to-end systems and orchestrating intelligence rather than just managing talent.

IIM Rohtak had the privilege of hosting Mr. Arun Shah, Director and Head HR at Ericsson, for an insightful session on “From Support Function to Strategic Partner: How Automation Frees HR.” Drawing on over 28 years of experience across global organisations, he offered students a clear view of how human resources has evolved into a technology-driven, strategic business function.

Mr. Shah explained how large enterprises integrate talent acquisition, learning and development, rewards, workforce planning, analytics, and global mobility into a single, well-coordinated HR delivery model. He emphasised the importance of discipline in aligning people, processes, compliance, and financial structures to achieve efficiency and consistency at scale. Through practical examples, he highlighted how automation and data systems allow HR teams to move beyond routine tasks and focus on higher-value decision-making.
The session encouraged students to rethink HR not as a back-office role, but as a strategic partner that shapes organisational performance and long-term value.
