Building on the vision of 2047, NHAI's new guidelines for High-Speed Access-Controlled National Highways aim to create a more uniform, safer and efficient highway network across the country. The guidelines standardize planning and DPR preparation for upcoming 4/6-lane Greenfield and Brownfield high-speed corridors, ensuring consistency in technical standards and operational efficiency.
To facilitate uninterrupted traffic movement, access to these highways will be managed through strategically planned interchanges and ramps connecting Expressways, National Highways, State Highways, airports, ports, Multi-Modal Logistics Parks, industrial hubs and major tourist destinations.
The guidelines also strengthen access control through the provision of a 1-metre-high boundary wall along the corridor, helping prevent encroachments, unauthorized access and entry of stray cattle. Together, these measures will enhance road safety, improve travel efficiency and support the development of a world-class National Highway network for a faster and more connected India.
