Chhattisgarh Sports and Youth Welfare department is responsible for organizing, promoting and carrying out various sports activities across state. so nurture traditional. Chhattisgarh houses several world class sports infrastructure like, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Naya Raipur. This grand venue has hosted 4 IPL and 8 Champion’s trophy T-20 league matches besides other cricketing events. Likewise, International hockey stadiums have been constructed in Rajnandgaon and Raipur. These stadiums feature polygrass surface and blue synthetic turf. These grounds have been certified by International Hockey Federation. Hockey World League Men’s final round was played in these grounds. The department is headed by a cabinet minister and complete administrative set up to ensure proper implementation of schemes. From time to time department identifies sportspersons for their outstanding performances. They are then conferred with ‘Khel Alankaran’ award on August 29 every year. So far state government has declared 181 outstanding players and since 2015-16, 64 players have got government jobs.
