Modi in his rigged Interview yesterday said FDI received during his tenure is unprecedented and highest ever. He also asks people to review his performance by comparing with previous government. So lets review his performance compared to MMS as well as Vajpayee's tenure.
The data is available from 2000 only. So during Vajpayee's tenure i.e from 2000 till 2003-04, FDI received was $11.32 billion with per year avg of $2.8 billion.
From 2004 till 2013-14, during MMS tenure, total FDI received was $206.2 billion with per year avg (10 years) of $20.6 billion
So Compared to Vajpayee, MMS increased the per year avg from $2.8 billion to $20.8 billion which is 7 times and 633% increase
In his first term (2004-09), avg FDI received was $15.4 billion, an increase of 450%
In his second term (2009-14) avg FDI received was $25.8 billion, an increase of 67.5%
From 2014-16, during Modi rule, Total FDI received was $70.9 billion with per year avg of $35.5 billion
So Compared to MMS, Modi increased the per year avg from $25.8 billion to $35.5 billion which is 1.3 times and 37% increase.
Now look at how much FDI % increased during MMS rule and Modi's. Also do count the following:
1) Modi allowed 100% FDI in many sectors while opposing the same during MMS.
2) MMS govt was a Coalition govt with limited powers and we all know how Mamatha Banerjee withdraw her support to govt opposing FDI in retail. While Modi govt is majority one.
3) During MMS rule, we had Global Recession, EuroZone Crisis and UAE slowdown. While during Modi rule, only china economy slowed down.
Now decide the person who increased FDI from $2.8 billion to $20.8 billion (10 years avg) is better or the who increased from $25.8 billion to $35.5 billion
