BRIC - National Centre for Cell Science of India. NCCS is one of India's leading research institutes in biological sciences.

BRIC-NCCS:
The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is part of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), of the Department of Biotechnlology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. The tripartite mandate of NCCS includes:
* Serving as a national repository for cell cultures.
* Basic research in cell biology.
* Human resource development. The research at NCCS spans diverse are

as of cell biology including cancer biology, immunology, stem cell and regenerative biology, metabolic disorders, structural biology, neurobiology and microbiology, which are explored using conventional and modern approaches including genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. The research at NCCS is driven by the talent and dedication of a team comprising scientists, research associates, Ph.D. students, project assistants and technicians, under the able leadership of the Director, Dr. Sharmila Bapat (Director, Additional Charge).

Dr. Shailza Singh and her team at BRIC - National Centre for Cell Science have identified that three proteins, DUSP1, DUSP4 and SPRY2, are powerful drivers of tumor growth and immune evasion in non-small cell lung cancer ( ) . A fusion of two approaches - and lab validation - makes this discovery especially compelling. This trio of proteins could serve as potential targets to disrupt cancer cells' survival circuits, offering new therapeutic avenues to be explored. A graphical abstract of this is given here.
