Me and Myself: Journey through Cantonments

It was Military Hospital when I first opened my Eyes and saw Dad in Olive Uniform. Mom helped me to sensitize any situation and Dad taught me to be brave to fight back my fears. I started attending one of the Prestigious Army Schools where I use to feel it as my second home. All my friends from the same background but with different culture and tradition.

What stays with us always was India is your Nation and Indianism is your culture, so we put our traditions and religion in second place. Growing up with Bugle Alarm and cycling to Parade Ground for a cricket match was our weekend activity. The Roar of Tanks and Heavy Armed Vehicles made me fall in love with Indian Army. Every Year we use to see Artillery Fires and Guns Shots. We witness the smoke of barrel unlike that of PUBG.

I grew old enough to hold Dad’s hand and see off him at the station on his transfer. I saw my Mom cried but I never do. Cause Dad said once “Brave People never cry on Soldiers”. I do feel proud of his job but most of the time I miss him on my Birthdays. I used to miss his presence in buying crackers for me on Diwali and taking us on picnics. I know he will return on vacation because of being brave, we were an inspiration for him. That's why we are strong to hold our ground and defy any obstacles. And that is the reason we are different from other kids because the blood I carry is of an Army Soldier.
