Training Program on Basic Life Support Held at IUST Awantipora, June 8, 2024 – The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Health Centre IUST, the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Dobiwan, and the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at IUST. Experts from IUST and the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare provided comprehensive training on essential life support techniques. The training covered CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), the use of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), and other emergency response procedures. Dr. Tariq Ahmed, NSS Coordinator at IUST, emphasized the importance of life support skills in saving lives during emergencies. He stated that the program aims to equip NSS volunteers and staff with the necessary skills to act promptly and efficiently in critical situations. Medical Officer Dr. Zahida praised the collaboration between the various institutions, highlighting IUST's dedication to empowering youth with essential skills. She noted that this training initiative reflects the university's commitment to community welfare. Dr. Masood from the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare, who provided hands-on training to the participants, underscored the importance of such programs in society.

NSS IUST Celebrates Viksit Bharat @2047 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Live Session

In an initiative to contribute towards the vision of a developed India by the year 2047, the National Service Scheme (NSS) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology actively participated in the Viksit Bharat @2047 celebrations. The highlight of the event was the live session with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he shared insights into various educational sectors that play a pivotal role in the nation's development.

The NSS IUST chapter enthusiastically engaged in the live session with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he addressed the significance of education in shaping the future of the nation. The Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role that educational institutions play in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and skill development among the youth.

Islamic University of Science and Technology held an environmental awareness programme under "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign, extending from September 15th to October 2nd, 2023, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Tariq Ahmad Ganaie, Coordinator NSS, IUST who talked about the importance of "Swachhata Hi Seva," emphasizing its significance in promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental consciousness. Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Registrar of IUST, administered the ‘Swachhata Pledge,' making a commitment to upholding cleanliness and environmental integrity. Deans, Directors, Heads, Officers of the university, and NSS volunteers participated in the programme.

3. Cleaning drives in Traditional water bodies and coastal cleaning activities will be organised in association with local NGOs and State Govt. Depts.
4. Social media awareness on keeping premises clean.
5. Swatchhta pledge taking event.
6. Swachhta cleaning activities organise at public places like bus stand, Railway Railway Station andmarket places.
8. During NSS 7 days special camp period, the volunteers may organise Swatchhta cleaning drives at adopted villages and clean public places like schools, water bodies and conduct awareness rallies, street theatre on Swatchhta importance.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) organized a visit of NSS members to Kaman Post, Uri today, as part of the "Desh Dekho" initiative. The program was coordinated by Dr. Tariq Ahmad, NSS Coordinator, IUST. This initiative underscores NSS's unwavering commitment to fostering community engagement and instilling a sense of national responsibility in the young minds. Dr. Ganaie, expressed deep gratitude to Prof. Shakil Ahmed Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST and Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Registrar IUST for their support, enabling students to actively engage in NSS activities. The trip form a part of activities aimed to cultivate a sense of civic duty and responsibility.
