Training Program on Basic Life Support Held at IUST Awantipora, June 8, 2024 – The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Health Centre IUST, the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Dobiwan, and the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at IUST. Experts from IUST and the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare provided comprehensive training on essential life support techniques. The training covered CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), the use of AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), and other emergency response procedures. Dr. Tariq Ahmed, NSS Coordinator at IUST, emphasized the importance of life support skills in saving lives during emergencies. He stated that the program aims to equip NSS volunteers and staff with the necessary skills to act promptly and efficiently in critical situations. Medical Officer Dr. Zahida praised the collaboration between the various institutions, highlighting IUST's dedication to empowering youth with essential skills. She noted that this training initiative reflects the university's commitment to community welfare. Dr. Masood from the Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare, who provided hands-on training to the participants, underscored the importance of such programs in society.
