The Adi Kailash & Om Parwat Yatra, commencing on May 2nd, 2025, is a revered pilgrimage deeply connected to Lord Shiva.
Adi Kailash, also known as Shiv Kailash and Chhota Kailash, is a mountain in the Himalayan range located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. It is part of a group of mountains situated across five distinct locations in the Himalayas, collectively known as the Panch Kailash. Adi Kailash holds the second-most significant position in this group, with Mount Kailash occupying the first spot, Shikhar Kailash (Shrikhand Mahadev Kailash) at third, Kinnaur Kailash at fourth, and Manimahesh Kailash at fifth. At the base of Adi Kailash are glacial lakes such as Gauri Kund and Parvati Tal. Please carry your Aadhar card along with Inner Line Permit. (Text Source: DTDO)
To ensure a comfortable and safe journey, it's crucial to pack essentials like: -
Sunglasses for high-altitude glare
Warm winter clothing for extreme weather conditions
Oxygen bottles for those who may experience high-altitude difficulties
Medications for general health issues and altitude sickness
Sturdy trekking shoes for navigating challenging terrain
While the region's high altitude and rugged terrain present challenges, the experience is deeply rewarding for both pilgrims and adventure seekers. Accessibility is facilitated by motor vehicles up to Jolingkong base camp, followed by pedestrian paths or pony rides, adding to the region's rustic charm.
