BAC Yuksam Staff Extend Heartiest Congratulations on Well-Deserved Promotions.

The entire staff of BAC Yuksam extends heartfelt congratulations to the respected BDO, Yuksam, Shri San Man Limboo, on his well-deserved promotion to the post of Deputy Director.

The staff also extend sincere congratulations and best wishes to the respected Assistant Director (PRI) on his well-deserved promotion to the post of Assistant Director under the Education Department.

Gyalshing District Administration conducts joint Inspection of Rimbi-Singlitam landslide area. Tourism Minister, DC take stock of situation

Gyalshing District Administration, led by DC Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, conducted an on-site inspection and detailed field assessment of the Rimbi-Singlitam landslide-affected area today, in coordination with Minister-cum-Area MLA Mr Tshering T Bhutia.

The joint team took stock of the prevailing situation and assessed the extent of damage to land, houses and other properties, as well as the risks posed to nearby settlements. Based on the assessment, further relief, rehabilitation and mitigation measures will be initiated by the district administration.

The inspection team included Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries, and Area MLA Mr Tshering T Bhutia, Zilla Adakshya, Gyalshing, Mr Ds Limboo, Advisor State medicinal plants board Mr NB Limboo, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gyalshing, Ms Paru Ruchal, Additional Director, Horticulture/Agriculture, Gyalshing, Mr Karma Sherpa, SE Power Department, Mr JP S***a. ASP Gyalshing, DPO Gyalshing, BDO Yuksam Shri San Man Limboo, civil engineers from Rural Development, Roads & Bridges and PMGSY, and officials from Forest & Environment, Gram panchayat members of Rimbi-Tingbrum GPU, SDMA and other concerned departments,

A large portion of land below Singlitam village and above Rimbi has been severely damaged and washed away by the landslide. Eight houses at Singlitam and four houses at Rimbi have been identified as being at high risk, while the settlement at Rimbi remains vulnerable due to the landslide above the area. No casualties or loss of life or livestock have been reported so far.

In view of the prevailing risks and safety concerns, affected families residing in vulnerable areas have been evacuated and shifted to safer locations. Two temporary relief camps have been established, one at Singlitam and another at Rimbi to accommodate the affected families. Eleven affected families have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Eight severely affected households from Singlitam have been shifted to the temporary relief camp at a safer location, while four households have been shifted to the relief camp at Rimbi. Other households located in vulnerable and high-risk areas have been relocated to the houses of their relatives. An ICDS Centre at Rimbi has also been shifted to a safer location.

A medical team from Yuksam PHC conducted health check-ups and enquired into the health condition of residents at the relief camps. Essential medicines were also provided to the affected families.

The Minister and the DC extensively toured the landslide-hit and high-risk areas to assess the damage and vulnerability and take stock of the situation on the ground. The DC directed the Food & Civil Supplies Department to ensure adequate ration supplies to the relief camps and instructed the Power Department to provide necessary electricity connection and related support.

Later, a brief meeting was held at Rimbi with affected villagers, during which the district administration took note of their concerns and requirements for immediate assistance.

The District Collector appealed for close coordination and teamwork among all concerned departments and urged residents to remain alert and extend necessary cooperation during the ongoing monsoon. He stated that the district administration would leave no stone unturned in relief and rehabilitation efforts. All line departments have been mobilised and are working in coordination to mitigate the situation and provide necessary assistance.

Interacting with the affected families, Minister Mr Tshering T Bhutia expressed solidarity with them and assured all possible support for their rehabilitation. He said that the District Administration and State Government are making continuous efforts to ensure the safety of the village and its residents. He assured that necessary assistance, rehabilitation support and protective measures, including a protective wall wherever required, would be taken up as per applicable provisions.

The Minister appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration in the rehabilitation process and remain vigilant during the monsoon, noting that natural calamities are unpredictable and can occur at any time. He assured that the District Administration and State Government would continue to stand with the affected families and extend every possible support.

He also announced that all necessary support would be extended to the relief camps and directed the District Administration to maintain constant contact with the affected families and closely oversee the situation at the relief camps. He reassured the affected families that rehabilitation measures would be undertaken as required and as per applicable provisions.

The Minister-cum-Area MLA lauded the District Administration and concerned line departments for their proactive and prompt response to the disaster situation.

Earlier, concerned GPU Panchayat President Mr Mangal Rai briefed the visiting officials about the prevailing situation, concerns of the affected villagers and the immediate assistance required.

Shravan Kumar Award Distribution💐.

The “Shravan Kumar Award” distribution was held during the Constituency-Level 80th Independence Day Celebration at Chojo, Khechuperi, Geyzing District.

A total of 11 beneficiaries from all 11 GPUs under Yuksam BAC and Chongrang BAC, representing the 01 Yuksam-Tashiding Constituency, were honoured with the prestigious Shravan Kumar Award for their love, care, dedication and selfless service towards their parents and elders.

The awards were presented by today’s Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, in the gracious presence of BDO Yuksam Shri San Man Limboo and BDO Chongrang Smt. Geeta Kumari Gurung.

Joint Inspection Conducted at Landslide-Affected Area Along Tathang–Melli Road

In accordance with the directions of Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, a joint inspection was conducted at the landslide-affected area along the Tathang–Melli Road following continuous heavy rainfall in the region.

The inspection team comprised Shri Monn Rai (Joint Secretary, State Level Youth Wing), Shri San Man Limboo (Block Development Officer, Yuksom), Shri G.R. Chettri (Assistant Director, PRI), Hon’ble Panchayat President Shri Deepak Kumar Rai, Hon’ble Panchayat Vice President Shri Lopzang Chopel Bhutia, Hon’ble Ward Panchayats, Shri Sontosh Singh (Assistant Engineer, SPWD, Gyalshing), Revenue Inspector, APO, Junior Engineers, Supervisors and local residents.

During the inspection, the team assessed the extent of the damage caused by the continuous heavy rainfall. It was observed that the Tathang–Melli Road, which serves as the lifeline connecting Melli–Aching GPU, had been severely damaged by landslides, resulting in major disruptions to transportation and public movement.

The team also visited vulnerable and landslide-prone residential areas, where residents were advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rainfall. Discussions were held on possible evacuation and displacement measures should the situation deteriorate further. Shri San Man Limboo, Block Development Officer, Yuksom, directed the concerned officials to immediately undertake temporary mitigation measures to safeguard lives and property.

The disaster has also caused significant damage to several drinking water pipelines and water storage tanks, disrupting the local water supply. If the heavy rainfall continues, there is a serious risk of additional landslides, which could further threaten the Khecheopalri–Melli Main Road, nearby residential settlements, and educational institutions. The concerned departments have been urged to remain on high alert and take timely preventive measures to minimize further damage and ensure public safety.

Seventh Day of Sikkim Paryavaran Parva 2026 Marked by Plantation and Cleanliness Drive

As part of the ongoing 14-day Sikkim Paryavaran Parva 2026, being observed from 1st to 14th July under the theme “Leave a Green Legacy,” the Block Administrative Centre, Yuksam, in collaboration with KNP, Yuksam, Forest Department, 07 Yuksam-Dubdi GPU, NGOs and other line departments, organised a plantation drive and cleanliness drive along the BAC Yuksam premises on the seventh day of the celebrations.

The plantation drive was carried out with the objective of enhancing green cover, promoting environmental conservation and encouraging collective responsibility towards protecting nature. The cleanliness drive complemented the initiative by reinforcing the importance of maintaining a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

The programme was attended by Hon’ble Zilla Adhyaksha Shri D.S. Limboo, Hon’ble Panchayat Members, Block Development Officer Shri San Man Limboo, Assistant Director (PRI) Shri G.R. Under the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) of the WCSC&D Welfare Department, financial assistance of ₹30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand only) each has been provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to two eligible beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries are Mrs. Devi Maya S***a, wife of Late Hari Bahadur Rai of Singlitam Ward under 11 Rimbi-Tingbrum GPU and Mrs. Asha S***a, wife of Late Jai Kumar S***a of Tsong-Mangtabong Ward under 07 Yuksam-Dubdi GPU.

The verified bank passbooks were handed over by SWI Shri Milan Limboo and ASWI Shri Temo Hang Limboo in the presence of Hon’ble Ward Panchayat Mrs. Sabitri Chettri, PDA Shri Birkha Rai and Supervisor Shri Rohit Limboo.

The successful disbursement of the assistance reflects the commitment and dedication of the department in ensuring that welfare schemes of the Government of Sikkim reach genuine and deserving beneficiaries in a timely, transparent and effective manner. An official visit-cum-sensitization programme was successfully conducted today at 07 Yuksam-Dubdi GPU by the team from BAC Yuksam under the leadership of BDO Yuksam, Shri San Man Limboo. The programme was organized with the objective of strengthening coordination with GPU functionaries and sensitizing officials and staff on various developmental activities, government schemes and administrative responsibilities.

The visiting delegation comprised Assistant Director (PRI) Shri G.R Chettri, APO Shri Ramesh Sharma, Social Welfare Inspector Shri Milan Limboo, Asst. Social Welfare Inspector Mrs. Rupa Sharma, Junior Engineers Shri Mobin Chettri and RRC Incharge Shri Tseten Tashi Bhutia.

The programme commenced with the traditional offering of khadas by Hon’ble Panchayat President Mrs. Sunita Limboo, followed by a welcome address delivered by respected Sr. VAA cm Sachiva Shri Khabindra Gurung.

During the session, PDA Shri Dawa Thendup Bhutia presented the profile and functioning of the GPU.
A comprehensive presentation on VB-G RAM-G was delivered by GRS Shri I.B Shanker and APO Shri Ramesh Sharma.

Social Welfare Inspector Shri Milan Limboo highlighted various Central and State Government welfare schemes and their effective implementation at the grassroots level. RRC Incharge Shri Tseten Tashi Bhutia elaborated on SBM-G and Solid Waste Management Rules 2026.
A brief address on engineering works was done by Junior Engineer Shri Mobin Chettri.

An important interactive and summarisation session was conducted by BDO Shri San Man Limboo, wherein key administrative issues such as leave rules, NCORD initiatives, Connect to CM, pre-monsoon preparedness, punctuality, discipline and the responsibilities of government servants towards efficient public service delivery were discussed in detail.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by VGRA, Mrs. Hem Kumari Chettri who expressed gratitude to the visiting officials and appreciated the initiative for enhancing awareness, coordination and effective governance at the grassroots level.

In pursuance of meeting conducted on District Water & Sanitation Mission Committee to discuss implementation, monitoring,management and sustainability of Jal Jeewan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission in the district held at Gyalshing under the chairmanship District Collector on 27/05/2026, Block Administrative Centre, Yuksam has conducted a block level review meeting to assess the progress and implementation of various water supply and sanitation initiatives within the block.

The meeting was chaired by BDO, Yuksam Shri San Man Limboo. The review focused on the status of ongoing projects, achievements, challenges and future action plans aimed at strengthening water and sanitation services in the area.

The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Panchayat Members, Assistant Director (PRI), Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineers, APO, VAA, Jr. VAAs, PDAs, GRSs and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, Shri Mobin Chettri, Junior Engineer, delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the DWSM report, including progress updates, implementation status and key achievements under various schemes. Discussions were also held on improving service delivery, ensuring effective monitoring and addressing existing challenges.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to work in coordination for the successful implementation of water and sanitation programmes and to ensure sustainable development across the block.
