ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦਿਹਾਤੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਦੋ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾਫਾਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ, 4 ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ, 15 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਅਫੀਮ, 1 ਆਧੁਨਿਕ M16 ਰਾਈਫਲ, 9 ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪਿਸਤੌਲ ਅਤੇ 25 ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਕਾਰਤੂਸ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠੇ ਤਸਕਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਥਿਤ ਸਬੰਧ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਾਜਾਇਜ਼ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਰੀਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਥਾਣਾ ਘਰਿੰਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਣਾ ਲੋਪੋਕੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਐਫ.ਆਈ.ਆਰ. ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਂਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਅਪਰਾਧਿਕ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ।

Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused is allegedly linked to foreign-based smugglers and is involved in procuring illegal weapons.
Separate FIRs have been registered at PS Gharinda & PS Lopoke, Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to uncover the complete backward and forward linkages and identify other persons involved.
Punjab Police remains committed to maintaining strict vigil against illegal arms trafficking and organised criminal networks and taking firm action against those involved in the illegal supply and circulation of weapons.
