ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰੇਟ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਗ਼ੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾਫਾਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ 8 ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 15 ਨਾਜਾਇਜ਼ ਪਿਸਤੌਲ ਅਤੇ 15 ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਕਾਰਤੂਸ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਸਕਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਰਾਧਿਕ ਅਨਸਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਗ਼ੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਮੰਗਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ। ਜਾਂਚ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਸ ਗ਼ੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਥਾਣਾ ਕੈਂਟ, ਇਸਲਾਮਾਬਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਹਰਟਾ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਐਫ.ਆਈ.ਆਰ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਪੂਰੇ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਦੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨਾਜਾਇਜ਼ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਅਪਰਾਧਿਕ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗ਼ੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ।
𝐈𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡, 𝐀𝐦𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬, 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝟖 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝟏𝟓 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐬, 𝟏𝟓 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were allegedly linked to foreign-based arms smugglers and were procuring illegal weapons for further distribution to criminal elements. Investigation has also revealed links of the accused with other associates involved in the illegal arms supply network.
Separate FIRs have been registered at PS Cantonment, PS Islamabad & PS Chheharta, Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to uncover the complete backward and forward linkages and identify other persons involved.
Punjab Police remains committed to maintaining strict vigil against illegal arms trafficking and organised criminal networks and taking firm action against those involved in the illegal supply and circulation of weapons.
