Thiruvonathoni - A Night-Long Odyssey through the Pamba

Each year, the Thiruvonathoni, a beautifully adorned vessel, begins its night journey along the River Pamba, carrying provisions for the Thiruvona Sadya at the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple. The journey starts at the Maha Vishnu Temple in Kattoor, led by the Mangattu Bhattathiri, the eldest priest of the temple. Snake boats and festive boat songs accompany the vessel as it makes stops at Ayiroor Madom and Melukara, where villagers warmly welcome it. As fireworks illuminate the night, the Thiruvonathoni reaches Aranmula by dawn, greeted by thousands of devotees, culminating in a grand feast.

Aranmula Vallasadya is a grand feast held annually at the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple in Kerala. Celebrated with great devotion, it coincides with the traditional boat race, where snake boats (palliyodams) take part. The feast is unique as it's served to the rowers of the boats and devotees, symbolizing harmony and togetherness.
