D Ering Memorial WLS is best known for its avifauna particularly the Critically endangered Bengal florican and migratory birds,, but the Siang river is also home to freshwater River Dolphin and for the first time, the river dolphin from DEring was captured in a video by our frontline staff Shri Tatling Megu , forester under Borguli WL Range

Bengal florican ( Haubaropsis bengalensis) is the flagship species of D.Ering wildlife sanctuary pasighat. It is world's rarest bustard. It is critically endangered bird of bustard family (otididae).
It has population of an estimated 1500 individual according to Bird life international 2024.
In India population of 350 - 400 individual have been estimated out of which 150 individual have been recorded from D Ering memorial wildlife sanctuary pasighat.
Habitat:- grassland of riverine islands in Siang, Brahmaputra and Ganga
IUCN STATUS - CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
WILDLIFE PROTECTION ACT 1972- SCHEDULED I SPECIES
AND IN APPENDIX I OF CMS
