GGDSD College Rajpur in association with Rotary Club of Palampur and Rotaract Club of College proudly celebrated the Nation Builders Award Ceremony on the occasion of Teachers’ Day . On this occasion distinguished Academicians and Educators were honoured by Dr Ashok Kumar Sarial, Former Vice Chancellor, CSK Agriculture University Palampur, who graced the event as Chief Guest .Among the awardees were eminent personalities including Mr. Sudarshan Bhatia, Retired Executive Engineer HPSEB, and prolific author of Books and recipient of Himachal Kesri Award, Dr. H.R. Sharma, Renowned Agriculture Economist & Former Pro Vice Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh ,Dr Surinder Kumar Vats, Emeritus Scientist, CSIR-IHBT,Dr. R.P. Kaushik, Scientist and Renowned Rice Breeder, Dr. Rajan Katoch, Dean, College of Basic Sciences, CSK Agriculture University Palampur .Mr. Anurag Sharma, Head & Coordinator, Dept. of Business Administration, GGDSD College Rajpur, Dr. Manuj Sharma, Officiating Principal, DAV School Palampur, and Teachers from NKSD Chand Public School, KLB DAV College, and St. Paul’s High School Palampur. Dr. Vivek Sharma, Director-cum-Principal, welcomed the Chief Guest and dignitaries, Dr S.C. Sharma, General Secretary College Managing Society & Literacy Chair, Rotary Club Palampur, read the citations for the awardees. In his inspiring address, Dr Sarial urged the teaching fraternity to become game changers in the evolving landscape of education, adopt innovative teaching techniques, and actively contribute in field of Research. He also encouraged students to develop critical thinking approach, curiosity about learning new technologies, and entrepreneurial skills to become future job providers. The Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of GGDSD College, Rajpur for the session 2026–2027 was held at the College Auditorium, marking the formal induction of the new team and the beginning of another year of leadership, fellowship and service. The ceremony was graced by Rotarian Anil Singhal Ji, District Governor, Rotary International District 3070, as the Chief Guest, along with Rotarian Sunil Nagpal Ji, Past District Governor; Rotarian Dr. Rajesh Sood, President, Rotary Club Palampur; Rotarian Dr. Arun Vyas , Secretary, Rotary Club Palampur; Rotarian Surinder Mohan , Club Rotaract Chair; Dr. Vivek Sharma, Director-Cum-Principal, GGDSD College, Rajpur, Past Presidents and Members of the Rotary Club , Faculty members and Members of the Rotaract Club of GGDSD College Rajpur .The highlight of the ceremony was the formal installation of Ms Kashish Sharma Student from BSc Final Year as President of the Rotaract Club of GGDSD College, Rajpur. The outgoing President, Mehak, from BCom ceremonially exchanged the Presidential collar, with President Kashish Sharma ,which was formally completed by District Governor Rtn Anil Singhal . Ms Kashish subsequently took the Rotaract Oath, reaffirming her commitment to the values of service and responsible leadership. The newly appointed office bearers and members were formally inducted through the Badge Ceremony with Ms Dipali Katoch as Vice President. Shiya as Secretary, Kritika as Treasurer, Sneha as Sergeant at Arms and Diya , Jasmeen Isha and Shivangi as Directors President Kashish Sharma also shared her vision and proposed activity plan for August 2026 to March 2027, with a focus on environmental awareness, community welfare, health, education and social service. Rotary Dignitaries, Director cm Principal of the college Dr Vivek Sharma Congratulated the new team and encouraged the new team of Rotaract to embrace leadership, teamwork and meaningful community engagement. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks and a group photograph, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Rotaract Club. To commemorate India's historic achievement of landing Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar South Pole on August 23, 2023, Department of Physical Sciences of GGDSD College, Rajpur proudly organized a series of events today to inspire the future scientists of our nation. Talented students actively participated in a Model/Chart Making Competition as well as an exciting Quiz Competition, showcasing their incredible knowledge and creativity.Anushka (BSc NM Third Year) won first in the exhibition, Ish*ta (BSc NM First Year) won second, and Ajay, Akshay, and Sahil (BSc NM Final Year) won third. The BSc Final Year Non-Medical team won the quiz. The event was well Coordinated by Mr Vaneet Thakur and Dr Maneshwar Thakur Assistant Professor in Physics Department of Physical Sciences. Dr Vivek Sharma Director cm Principal congratulated the faculty members and students for organising the competition lauded the efforts of the students for showing their innovative skills. GGDSD College Rajpur, organised a Special Guest Lecture on the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) in college . Prof. Dr. G. D. Sharma, Former Secretary ,University Grants Commission New Delhi , Senior Fellow & Head Higher Education NIEPA and Director Consortium for Educational Communication(CEC) New Delhi and President , Society for Education and Economic Development (SEED), was the Key Note Speaker .Before delivering a Lecture Dr G.D.Sharma had an very interactive session with the Students of First Year enrolled Under NEP 2020 Semester System .In his address Dr G.D.Sharma elaborated on the need, objectives, and significance of NEP 2020 for the future of students. He emphasized that the New Education policy is a major step towards promoting skill development, innovation, employability, critical thinking, and holistic growth among learners. He emphasised that students must develop the instinct and habit of putting up the queries to Teachers about their careers and academics. Er M.S .Katoch , Chairman of the Kawa Groups of Institutions and Industries from Jammu was also present on the occasion . On this occasion, an MOU was signed between GGDSD College Rajpur and the Society for Education and Economic Development (SEED) New Delhi, aimed at fostering future academic and developmental activities related to education . Under the MOU students of the college will get an opportunity for doing the certifications in three months courses of Communication skills , Critical Thinking Foundation, skills and Application for students and Ethics, Values and Life skills of Two credits for which joint certification will be given by SEED and College . 80th Independence Day was celebrated in college with great enthusiasm. The occasion was graced by Shri Vijay Kumar Dogra, Assistant Commandant (Retd.), Military Intelligence, Indian Army, as the Chief Guest. Our NCC cadets presented a ceremonial Guard of Honour, followed by vibrant cultural performances from the NCC and NSS units, showcasing national unity, harmony, and paying heartfelt tributes to the nation’s heroes. Dr. Vivek Sharma, Director-cum-Principal, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest. Shri Vijay Kumar Dogra, a distinguished war veteran, shared his experiences from the Armed Forces, motivating students to work hard, serve society, and contribute to the nation as responsible citizens. GGDSD College, Rajpur (Palampur) hosted a Certificate Distribution Ceremony marking the successful completion of the Free Three-Month Computer Training Program conducted in association with NIELIT (BIICT), Palampur for students belonging to SC, ST, and EWS categories. Over the course of training, students gained practical knowledge in Computer Basics, Spoken English, Applications, Accounting (Tally Prime), and Publishing. All 30 enrolled students for the Course successfully cleared the examination, achieving a 100% result .The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Vivek Sharma Director-Principal, GGDSD College, Mr. Arvind Kumar ,Incharge, EOC, Mr. Tilak Raj Verma (Director, BIICT), Dr. Sunny Verma, along with Dr Dhruv Dev Sharma,Mr Yashvinder Singh ,Ms Aina faculty members.In his address, Dr. Vivek Sharma Director of College in his address to students emphasized the importance of digital skills and vocational training in today’s competitive world, highlighting how such government approved initiatives empower youth with self-reliance and better career opportunities. Students and Cadets of the NCC Unit of GGDSD College Rajpur actively participated in the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp organized today by Himotkarsh Parishad Palampur at the Blood Bank of Civil Hospital, Palampur. A total of 15 students and cadets from the college donated blood and also carried out an awareness campaign emphasizing the importance of blood donation for saving lives. The program was graced by the Patron and office bearers of Himotkarsh Parishad Palampur. Dr. Vivek Sharma, Director-cum-Principal of the College, attended the event as Guest of Honour, encouraging the youth for their noble service to society.
