History of the Town:
Palamaner is an ancient town which has been in existence, since the time of the “pallavas”. The name "Palamaner" originated from "Pallavan yeri", meaning lake dug by Pallavas. "Yeri" in Tamil means lake. Hence it was called “Pallavaneru”. Now it is known as a Palamaneru.

e town is very important education center, due to existence of Govt. College, Polytechnic College, High Schools, Elementary Schools and Mother Terissa College for Degree, Post Graduation, B.Ed and Engineering Courses. It is famous for Siva Temple at Mogili near 10 Km.

Introduction:
*The Palamaneru Municipality is a 3rd Grade Municipality in Chittoor District.
*The Palamaneru Municipality is newly formed during the year 2005 vide G.O. No.530 dated 25.05.2005.
*The area of the Municipality is 28.13 sq.kms.
*It is located at 130 – 121 – 18’’. Northern Latitude and 780– 441 – 28” Eastern Longitude.
*The town is at an attitude of 680 meters above mean sea level. The Chennai Bangalore *National Highway passes through the town. The town is located at a distance of 40 KM from the district head quarters of Chittoor.
*The town is noted for good Government medical hospital and for a famous Siva Temple is located well near the town.
*There are 24 election wards.The Koundinya River flow very near by the town.

Places to Visit :
*About 20 km southwest of Palamaner, there is a waterfalls called Kaigal Water Falls.
*About 7 km to the south, is a lake called “Kalyana Revu”.
*South of Kalyana Revu, there is the Ganganna Sirassu Waterfalls.
*Gantavooru is famous for pottery designing works and Lord Shaneswara temple.
*Also 1 km distance from Gantavooru is Lord Anjaneya temple, which is on the way of NH4 Highway.
*KonetiRayala Swamy Templein Keelapatla is one of the most famous historical temples that is located 8 km towards the northeast of Palamaner.
*Varadaraja Swamy Temple in Kurmai is located 4 km from Palamaner which was built by Pallavas.
*The forests of Palmaner have been declared as an elephant sanctuary, the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, by Government of India.
* Sri Veera Vijaya Anjaneya Swamy temple located in D.P Palayam village 20 Kilo Meters from Chittoor.
