Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL), is a schedule ‘A’ Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of Government of India (Ministry of Railways). It is the most ambitious and biggest ever project in infrastructure sector, set-up to give economy a boost and build high capacity and high speed rail freight corridors along the golden quadrilateral and its diagonals.

The first Phase comprises of construction of two dedicated freight corridors: Western DFC and Eastern DFC. Western DFC spans from Mumbai to Dadri (U.P.) and
Eastern DFC covers from Ludhiana (Punjab) to Sonnagar (Bihar). DFCCIL continues to strengthen India’s freight ecosystem with an average of 427 trains running per day in May 2026, up from 399 trains in May 2025 - registering a 7% growth in average daily train operations.

This sustained increase reflects the growing confidence of customers in the Dedicated Freight Corridor and its ability to provide faster, reliable and efficient freight movement across the nation.

A container goods train hauled by the high-capacity WAG-12 locomotive (No. 60100) departed from JNPT at 21:38 hrs for CONCOR GCT Varnama, marking a significant milestone in the commencement of freight operations from India's largest container port on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). The train successfully reached New Saphale, demonstrating the seamless integration of port-led cargo movement with DFCCIL’s high-capacity freight network.

The swift movement of freight from ports to hinterland markets is critical for supporting manufacturing, trade, exports, and industrial growth. Sh. Praveen Kumar, MD/ DFCCIL, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the New Dadri–New Sahnewal section on 30.05.2026, reviewing operational infrastructure, inspecting key corridor sections, and interacting with field teams to assess ongoing initiatives.

The visit included detailed inspections of the New Dadri–New Kesari section and the New Ambala City–Sahnewal section.

During the visit, Sh. Praveen Kumar inaugurates Sewa Dham under DFCCIL’s CSR initiative, supporting the treatment and rehabilitation of children affected by DMD through the provision of physiotherapy equipment and the newly developed DFCCIL Type-V Quarters at Ambala Cantt. He also inspected the Transmission Substation (TSS) at Ambala Unit, reaffirming DFCCIL’s commitment to infrastructure excellence, employee welfare and social responsibility.

The inspection was accompanied by Sh. P. K. Rai, Director/Project Planning; Sh. Sandesh Srivastava, ED/Project; Sh. Alok Kumar, GM/Coordination/Ambala Unit; Sh. Arjun Singh Tomar, GGM/S&T/EC; Sh. As part of its commitment to fostering learning, empowerment, and inclusive growth, organised a Women’s Financial Empowerment Program on 29.05.2026 at the Experience Center, Corporate Office. The initiative was aimed at enhancing financial literacy, strengthening financial awareness, and encouraging informed investment and wealth management decisions among women employees.

Sh. Pankaj Sahijwani, an experienced corporate leader and advocate of financial literacy, delivered an insightful session on investment planning, disciplined wealth creation, risk management and long-term financial well-being.

DFCCIL successfully organised CGM Conference on Contractual Disputes & Contract Closures of EDFC at Heavy Haul Institute, Noida, under the leadership of Sh. Praveen Kumar, MD/DFCCIL.

The conference was attended by Sh. Anurag Sharma, Director/Infra; Sh. Pawan Kumar Rai, Director/PP; Sh. B. Mugunthan, Director/Finance, along with CGMs of EDFC Units and other senior officials of DFCCIL.

A special legal session by Sh. Shourav Lahiri, Barrister, provided valuable insights into contemporary dispute management practices, contractual risk mitigation, and legal frameworks related to infrastructure projects.

The conference focused on contractual dispute resolution, pressing contractual challenges, review of ongoing arbitration and dispute cases, and expediting contract closure mechanisms across EDFC units. The seminar also emphasised institutional coordination, compliance measures, and adoption of best practices for effective contract management.

The event also witnessed the meeting and signing of the contract agreement for the Rail Grinding Machine between DFCCIL and Vandana International Pvt. Ltd, marking another important step towards strengthening maintenance capabilities on the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.

Detailed presentations were made by Ambala, Tundla, Prayagraj, and DDU Units highlighting unit-wise contractual issues, dispute cases, and operational concerns. Deliberations were held on actionable strategies, timely resolution mechanisms, and streamlining contract closure processes for improved project ex*****on.

The conference concluded with guidance from the senior leadership reaffirming DFCCIL’s commitment towards efficient contract management, accountability, and streamlined project ex*****on.
