The Department of Higher Education successfully organized an interactive session on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) as part of Strengthening Adaptive Development and Humane Aptitude for National Advancement (Sadhana) Saptah 2026, observed from April 2nd to 8th, 2026.

The week marks the Foundation Day of the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and the completion of five years of Mission Karmayogi, India’s landmark initiative for citizen-centric governance.

The second cycle of Prerana has commenced with great enthusiasm, reflecting a renewed commitment to its core values. The first batch of participants, drawn from diverse districts across the country, embodies the spirit of inclusivity and unity central to the program.

Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, DoSEL, interacted with the participants via video conference, warmly welcoming them and highlighting the historical significance of Vadnagar. He also emphasised that Prerana is being conducted at the Vernacular School where Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi began his educational journey, and encouraged students to draw inspiration from this legacy while nurturing leadership, values, and a strong sense of purpose.

The third day of the Prerana Mentor Training began at CCL IIT Gandhinagar with a session by Prof. Rajat M***a, Director, IIT Gandhinagar. The day also featured hands-on STEM activities and a session on IKS by expert from IIT Kharagpur.

The training strengthened mentors’ capacities to deliver Prerana’s distinctive pedagogy, integrating cutting-edge technology with rich traditional knowledge.

On 31st March 2026, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education launched the Career Cards for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) at Kartavya Bhawan-2, New Delhi. He emphasised the vision of Hon'ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji in implementing the mandate of NEP 2020 through inclusive classrooms. By extending opportunities for equitable career pathways, lifelong learning and active participation in the workforce for CwSN, DoSEL seeks to ensure that no learner is left behind in the journey towards Viksit Bharat.

This initiative has been developed by UNICEF in collaboration with Pratham Education Foundation, NCERT, PSSCIVE and National Institutes for Disabilities. Senior officials from the Ministry, autonomous bodies including CBSE, KVS, NCERT, NVS and representatives from UNICEF were present during the launch.

These Career Cards are designed to advance inclusive career awareness and guidance for CwSN across all categories of disabilities.
