The Ministry is responsible for co-ordination of all skill development efforts across the country, removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower, building the vocational and technical training framework, skill up-gradation, building of new skills, and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created. It is aided in these initiatives by its f

unctional arms – National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), National Skill Development Fund (NSDF) and 39 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) as well as 330 training partners registered with NSDC. The Ministry also intends to work with the existing network of skill development centres, universities and other alliances in the field. Further, collaborations with relevant Central Ministries, State governments, international organizations, industry and NGOs have been initiated for multi-level engagement and more impactful implementation of skill development efforts.

Celebrating 6 Years of PM SVANidhi: Empowering Street Vendors, Enabling Entrepreneurs.

As part of the PM SVANidhi journey, NIESBUD, in collaboration with MSDE, implemented the Rashtriya Udyamita Vikas Pariyojana (Pilot) to strengthen entrepreneurial capabilities among PM SVANidhi beneficiaries.

The programme combined one week of classroom-based entrepreneurship training with 21 weeks of mentoring and handholding support, enabling participants to expand their enterprises, improve financial resilience, and build sustainable livelihoods.

Across Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, 1,704 beneficiaries, including 894 women entrepreneurs, have been empowered with the skills, confidence, and support needed to grow their businesses and realise their aspirations.

From access to credit to access to opportunity, PM SVANidhi continues to transform lives and create pathways to self-reliance.

Under the chairpersonship of Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the 3rd meeting of the National Steering Committee under reviewed the progress of the scheme across participating States and deliberated on measures to strengthen industry participation, institutional governance, financial sustainability of SPVs, and faster operationalisation of projects.

A key milestone was the approval of the Strategic Investment Plan for the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster, submitted by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), making Andhra Pradesh the first State to operationalise an industry partnership under the scheme.

The discussions reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing industry-led governance, outcome-oriented skilling, and stronger partnerships between industry, States, and training institutions to build future-ready ITIs and a workforce aligned with the needs of Viksit Bharat 2047.

A landmark first under .

The National Steering Committee has approved the Strategic Investment Plan for the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster, submitted by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, making Andhra Pradesh the first State to operationalise an industry partnership under the scheme.

The Visakhapatnam Cluster will bring together Government ITIs through a hub-and-spoke model, with industry playing a central role in upgrading infrastructure, modernising training, aligning curricula with industry needs, and creating stronger pathways to apprenticeships and employment.

This marks a significant step towards building industry-aligned, future-ready ITIs and a workforce equipped for the needs of a rapidly evolving economy.

Congratulations to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, and all stakeholders on this milestone.
