From Local Challenges to Livelihood-Focused Solutions

During the Ministry of Tribal Affairs' Review Meeting, the winners of the District Agriculture DPR Challenge under were announced, recognising four proposals from Wayanad and Palakkad (Kerala), Dima Hasao (Assam), and Palghar (Maharashtra).

The winning proposals showcase innovative, locally grounded solutions aimed at strengthening tribal livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and allied infrastructure. The winning projects include:

-Cultivation of Higher Value Crops in Priyadarshini Tea Estate in Wayanad, Kerala,
-Prefabricated Cold Storage Unit in Dima Hasao, Assam,
-Introduction of Exotic Fruits Plantation at ITDP Jawhar in Palghar, Maharashtra, and
-Integrated Organic Spice, Exotic Horticulture & Infrastructure Security Project in Palakkad, Kerala.

These proposals reflect a strong focus on high-value crop diversification, horticulture expansion, post-harvest infrastructure, organic cultivation, and enhanced agricultural productivity. By combining innovation with local needs, the projects demonstrate how districts can leverage available resources to create sustainable and scalable livelihood opportunities for tribal communities.

The DPR Challenge aims to encourage districts to move beyond routine planning and develop implementation-ready, outcome-oriented projects that emphasize convergence, sustainability, community ownership, and measurable impact. The winning proposals serve as replicable models for agriculture-led tribal development and economic empowerment across the country.

Building capacities for stronger last-mile governance

A dedicated iGOT microsite has been developed by Karmayogi Bharat Team for Adi Karmayogi Volunteers and other stakeholders of the Tribal ecosystem. The same was demonstrated during the Consultative Meeting with States and Line Ministries on DAJGUA and PM JANMAN. The microsite forms a part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen structured capacity building of community-level volunteers and enhance their effectiveness in supporting tribal communities and is envisioned to provide AKVs with accessible digital learning opportunities to strengthen their understanding of Government schemes, citizen facilitation, and last-mile service delivery.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs convened a Consultative Meeting with Line Ministries and State Governments under the leadership of Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Tribal Affairs.

The meeting reviewed the progress of key tribal development initiatives, including Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), PM-JANMAN, and other flagship schemes and programmes, with discussions focused on implementation, convergence and strengthening last-mile delivery.

A window into grassroots transformation - Adi Darpan

Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs today released 'Adi Darpan' a monthly news digest which will showcase key initiatives, ground-level innovations and inspiring success stories from tribal communities across various states during the Consultative meeting held with Line Ministries and State Governments today at Kartavya Bhawan 1, New Delhi. True to its name, Adi Darpan serves as a mirror reflecting the Ministry’s ongoing efforts, impact, and transformative work on the ground.

The edition features success stories of Adi Sewa Kendras (ASKs) and Adi Karmayogi Volunteers (AKVs), showcasing how community participation and village-level facilitation are strengthening access to public services and responsive governance.

A Consultative Meeting was convened with the senior officers from Line Ministries and State Governments on 3 September 2026, under the chairpersonship of Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs. It was attended by key MoTA officials - Shri Manish Thakur, Additional Secretary MoTA, Dr. Varnali Deka, Director and Ms. Samidha Singh, Director; to review the progress of its flagship schemes such as DAJGUA and PM JANMAN and programmes towards strengthening coordinated efforts for effective tribal welfare and development.

The meeting brought together progress under PM JANMAN and DAJGUA, rollout of key institutional initiatives, financial and expenditure commitments, and the strengthening of ITDAs, Adi Sewa Kendras and Adi Karmayogi Volunteers.

The review reaffirmed the Ministry’s focus on convergence, timely implementation and measurable outcomes on the ground, ensuring that development interventions translate into tangible improvements impacting the lives of tribal communities.
