This year the Embassy of Lithuania in India continued the successful initiative launched in 2025 by organizing a visit to Lithuania for two Indian journalists - Huma Siddiqui (StratNews Global & Bharat Shakti) and Sumit Pande (Deccan Herald) - aimed at showcasing Lithuania’s economic, technological and innovation potential, as well as opportunities for Lithuania–India cooperation. 🇱🇹 🤝 🇮🇳
During the program, the journalists met representatives of Lithuania’s government, innovation ecosystem, universities and globally competitive companies working in lasers, cybersecurity, AI, life sciences, maritime engineering and advanced manufacturing.
Meetings with Minister of the Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas and Vice-minister of National Defence Dr. Karolis Aleksa focused on cooperation in ICT, cybersecurity, defence technologies and resilient supply chains.
At Inovacijų agentūra (Lithuanian Innovation Agency), Unicorns Lithuania, INFOBALT and Hostinger, discussions highlighted Lithuania’s fast-growing innovation ecosystem, strong startup culture and ambition to become a regional leader in AI, digital technologies and advanced manufacturing. Discussions with Ecogrant covered circular economy solutions and cooperation in plastics recycling.
The visit also showcased Lithuania’s globally recognised laser sector. At Ekspla and Light Conversion, the journalists learned how Lithuania became one of the world’s leading hubs for ultrafast laser technologies used in life sciences, semiconductor manufacturing, precision medicine and advanced industrial applications.
In Klaipėda, the delegation visited Klaipėdos uostas / Port of Klaipeda - a fully digitalized, high-capacity and congestion-free port serving as an important logistics gateway connecting the Baltic region with broader European and Indo-Pacific supply chains, including discussions related to the corridor. At Garant group, the journalists learned about Lithuania’s maritime engineering capabilities and globally operating marine solutions.
The delegation also visited Lietuvos mokslo taryba (Research Council of Lithuania), KTU Kauno technologijos universitetas/Kaunas University of Technology and Axioma MS, showcasing Lithuania’s strengths in applied research, smart metering and advanced engineering solutions. At VU Gyvybės mokslų centras (Vilnius University Life Sciences Center), the journalists explored Lithuania’s growing strengths in biotechnology and health technologies, including research using zebrafish originating from India to study heart regeneration after heart attacks.
The program also included a visit to the Indian Embassy in Lithuania and Lithuanian artist Eglė Lipeikaitė’s exhibition “India through Lithuanian Eyes”, as well as a meeting with Dr. Surya Revanth Ayyagari, an Indian researcher who completed his PhD in optics in Lithuania - a meaningful example of growing Lithuania–India academic and scientific ties.
We sincerely thank all institutions and partners who contributed to this visit and shared their expertise and vision for stronger Lithuania–India cooperation! 🙏
