PRESS RELEASE

*AIRWO Strongly Condemns Delhi Police Assault and Misconduct Against Two Women Journalists Who Questioned the Delhi Chief Minister, Allegedly Targeting Them Because of Their Muslim Identity*

*AIRWO Demands a High-Level, Independent and Impartial Inquiry and Strict Action Against the Police Personnel Responsible*

New Delhi, September 4, 2026: The All India Revolutionary Women’s Organisation (AIRWO), in a statement issued to the press, strongly condemned the alleged assault and mistreatment of women journalists Shaheen Khan and Nafisa Khan by Delhi Police personnel.

The two journalists were reporting on the inauguration of a new wing at Max Hospital in Saket, Delhi, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. At the site, personnel from Saket Police Station allegedly manhandled both journalists, forcibly took them to the police station in a police vehicle, and assaulted them there in the presence of women police personnel. AIRWO termed this incident highly condemnable and deeply disturbing.

AIRWO further alleged that the police personnel questioned the two journalists about their religious identity and, after learning that they were Muslims, subjected them to religiously abusive and derogatory remarks and brutally assaulted them. They were also allegedly threatened with the registration of FIRs against them.

Following protests and a late-night sit-in at Saket Police Station by journalists, intellectuals and representatives of various people's organisations in support of the two women journalists, the police reportedly registered a complaint. However, no FIR was registered against the police personnel allegedly involved in the assault.

AIRWO stated that, according to videos that have surfaced on social media, the two journalists bore multiple visible injuries on their bodies.

AIRWO has also appealed to the Press Council of India to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and order an independent investigation into the conduct of the police officials involved.

AIRWO said:

«“Women journalists are being assaulted and injured simply for questioning the Delhi Chief Minister. And when the police allegedly discovered that the journalists were Muslims, the assault became even more brutal. Is this democracy—or a police state?”»

AIRWO further asked:

«“Are questioning the Chief Minister and being a Muslim both considered crimes in this country?”»

The organisation said that under the BJP's “double-engine” governments, operating under the influence of RSS-led Manuvadi/Brahmanical fascist forces, democratic and constitutional governance has been systematically undermined, causing grave damage to the country and society.

AIRWO stated that it appears that, under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Delhi Police has reduced its role to serving the interests of the saffron-corporate nexus, while displaying repression and brutality against students, youth, women, journalists and activists of democratic organisations.

The organisation said that this incident has further exposed the biased, brutal and deeply discredited face of the Delhi Police.

AIRWO, said:

«“We demand a completely independent and impartial investigation into the entire incident. All available CCTV footage from the place of the incident and the police station, along with all other video evidence, must be immediately secured and preserved. Strict action must be taken against all police personnel responsible for assaulting the two journalists or subjecting them to discriminatory and abusive treatment on the basis of their religious identity. The two journalists must also be provided full justice and adequate protection.”»

PRESS RELEASE

*CAM Chhattisgarh Reorganised in Bilaspur*

*Caste Annihilation Movement to Intensify Struggle Against Manuvadi-Brahmanical Hindutva and the Hindu Rashtra Project*

Raipur, 3 September 2026: The reorganisation meeting of the Caste Annihilation Movement (CAM), Chhattisgarh Unit, was held in Bilaspur with the participation of activists committed to the struggle for a casteless, egalitarian and exploitation-free society.

The meeting emphasised that caste remains one of the most deeply entrenched forms of social oppression in India. The inhuman caste hierarchy rooted in Manusmriti and Brahmanical ideology continues to perpetuate discrimination, humiliation and violence against Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs and other oppressed sections.

The meeting also strongly opposed the Hindutva-based Hindu Rashtra project, which is fundamentally opposed to the democratic, secular and constitutional principles of the Indian Republic. Participants resolved to intensify the campaign against the poisonous ideology of Manuvadi-Brahmanical Hindutva and all forms of caste and communal oppression.

CAM, which is active in 15 states across India, is committed to building a social order based on equality, dignity, fraternity and freedom from exploitation and caste oppression.

New Chhattisgarh State Coordination Committee

The meeting elected Comrade Lakhan Subodh as President and Comrade Virendra Bhardwaj as State Coordinator of the Chhattisgarh State Coordination Committee of CAM.

The newly constituted State Coordination Committee includes:

- Comrade Tuhin — All India Convenor, Caste Annihilation Movement (CAM)
- Comrade Manharan Yadav — Convenor, Inquilabi Mazdoor Sangathan, Sarangarh District
- Parmanand Netam — Bilaigarh
- Roopdas Tandan — Mungeli District
- Keshav Satnam — Raipur District
- Dinesh Satnam — Raipur District
- Kamini — Raipur District
- M. D. Satnam — Bilaspur District
- Bhagchand Gaikwad — Bemetara
- Shama — Kanker

Programme of Action

The meeting decided to build a strong organisational structure at the district and local levels and to expand the movement through regular meetings, seminars, street-corner meetings, cultural programmes, rallies, cycle marches, public meetings, webinars and digital campaigns.

CAM Chhattisgarh will work to:

• Strengthen the struggle against caste discrimination and caste-based oppression through peaceful, democratic and constitutional means.

• Oppose Brahmanical-Manuvadi values in social life, including discriminatory practices related to food, dress, customs and social interaction.

• Campaign for a comprehensive and transparent caste census, including a separate caste column for OBC communities.

• Demand separate enumeration of Satnam and Adivasi religious and faith traditions, rather than automatically placing them under Hindu/Sanatan Dharma categories.

• Build public opinion in favour of inter-caste and inter-faith marriages as an important means of breaking caste and communal barriers.

• Promote scientific temper, rational thinking and critical consciousness against superstition, obscurantism and religious fundamentalism.

• Oppose attacks on minorities, particularly the growing attacks by saffron vigilante groups against Muslim and Christian communities in Chhattisgarh.

• Resist all forms of caste oppression, communal hatred and social discrimination, irrespective of the community or section targeted.

• Conduct a sustained digital campaign exposing the anti-human and oppressive character of Manusmriti and the caste system.

The meeting reiterated that education, organisation and the development of democratic public consciousness are essential for creating an exploitation-free and casteless society.

Observance of Gauri Lankesh and Narayana Guru Days

The meeting decided to observe 5 September as the martyrdom anniversary of journalist and rationalist Gauri Lankesh, who was assassinated for her courageous opposition to communalism, majoritarianism and fascist forces.

It was also decided to observe 20 September in remembrance of Narayana Guru, a pioneering social reformer and a major figure in the struggle against caste oppression and for social equality.

The Caste Annihilation Movement, Chhattisgarh, called upon Dalit, Adivasi, OBC, minority, working-class, progressive, democratic, rationalist and anti-caste forces to unite and strengthen the struggle against caste oppression, Brahmanical domination, communalism and fascist politics.

The struggle for caste annihilation is inseparable from the struggle for equality, democracy, social justice and human dignity.

State Coordinator

*Revolutionary Salute to the Poet of Protest, Birendra Chattopadhyay*

On the 107th birth anniversary of Birendra Chattopadhyay, one of the most distinguished and uncompromising poets of Bengali literature, the Revolutionary Cultural Forum (RCF) pays its revolutionary salute and humble homage to the great poet.

During the 1970s, when the communist revolutionary movement was subjected to brutal and merciless repression, Birendra Chattopadhyay courageously took risks and transformed his poetry into a weapon of resistance. He fearlessly raised his voice against the repression of the revolutionary movement and against every form of injustice perpetrated by the ruling classes.

He was truly a poet of protest and resistance, whose words stood with the oppressed, the exploited and the struggling people. His poetry reflected the anger, pain and aspirations of those fighting for justice and social transformation.

Revolutionary Cultural Forum (RCF) salutes Birendra Chattopadhyay, the lifelong poet of struggle, whose pen became a weapon against repression, injustice and exploitation.

Revolutionary salute to the immortal poet!
Lal Salaam to Birendra Chattopadhyay!

*The Untimely Passing of Two Communist Leaders Is a Great Loss to the Movement*
— CPI (ML) Red Star

Barnala, September 3, 2026

Within a span of just two days, two communist revolutionary leaders have bid a final farewell to the revolutionary democratic movement. Their untimely deaths have deprived the Left and revolutionary democratic movement of two well-known and dedicated comrades.

Speaking at a condolence and tribute meeting held in Barnala, Punjab, Comrade Labh Singh Akalia, State Secretary of CPI (ML) Red Star, Comrade Gurtej Kheewa, and Comrade Nachhattar Singh Ramnagar, a provincial leader of the Mazdoor Adhikar Andolan, said that Comrade Gurnam Singh Daoud, a member of the Central Committee of RMPI, passed away two days ago. Yesterday, Comrade Ajmer Singh Samra, a prominent and senior leader of CPI (ML) New Democracy, also passed away.

This is extremely sad news for the entire movement. The permanent departure of these two comrades is an irreparable loss to the movement. CPI (ML) Red Star pays its heartfelt tributes to the departed comrades and offers them Red Salute.

The leaders further said that the passing away of these two leaders is a great loss to the movement, especially at a time when the entire country has come under the grip of the fascist rule of the RSS-BJP. At a time when the entire revolutionary Left movement needs to unite with complete sincerity and determination to wage a powerful struggle against the jungle rule of the Sangh Parivar's Manuvadi fascist-corporate alliance, the loss of such fighting communist leaders is particularly painful.

Today, oppressed and toiling people, revolutionary forces, and minorities—including Muslims, Christians, and other minority communities—are under attack and are being increasingly targeted by the RSS and the fascist forces associated with it. The fascist forces are rapidly advancing their agenda of reducing minorities, particularly the Muslim community, to the status of second-class citizens.

At such a critical juncture, the passing away of these two fighting communist leaders is a profound and irreparable loss to the revolutionary and democratic movement.

On RSS Chief's Madison Square Event

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's Madison Square Garden (MSG, in New York) event organised by the new Hindutva front, American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD), has got added global attention due to the intense debate emerged regarding the event in US itself. The organisers together with hundreds of RSS affiliates in US projected the Event as 'Universal Oneness Celebration' as part of the centenary celebration of RSS. However, more than 60 inter-faith groups comprising Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, etc. , together with civil right and advocacy organisations, democratic intellectuals and, above all, the New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani himself, have come forward resolutely opposing the Event and Rally addressed by Bhagwat. On the other hand, American affiliates of far-right fascist RSS have sought to mask the anti-Muslim and anti-Christian exclusionary nationalism of RSS, by appealing for “greater peace and harmony” and propagating the message, "world is one family". Obviously, though Indian American Mamdani, as the Mayor of New York, has politically opposed the event, he lacked legal authority to shut down the meeting since everything including Visa of Bhagwat and permission for the gathering are settled at the higher level of Trump administration that works in close intimacy with the Modi government which, as all well-meaning people know, is the open or front office of RSS, world's longest-running and largest fascist organisation today. And in many respects, the Islamophobic Trump has, more or less, the same wave-length as RSS-BJP regarding the perspectives on Islam. True, this perception is deep-rooted among the far-right neofascist sections in both America and India. For instance, during the National Conservatism Conference (NatCon) held in Washington in 2024, the BJP Vice President Ram Madhav had said that conservatives in the West should view India as an example of how to defeat what he called the “left, liberal, Marxist, radical Islamist cabal”. Together with NatCon, Ram Madhav is also active in the far-right Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) which is also linked with American far-right corporate think-tanks who also support both Trumpism and its Make America Great Again (MAGA) project.

In fact, Bhagwat's US visit to improve the public image of RSS was in the background of a host of new developments. For instance, many US lawmakers have resolutely criticized India's proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment (FCRA) Bill, warning that new rules on foreign funding could harm religious freedom of Christian churches and Charities and could hurt India-US bilateral relations. Recently, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), an independent initiative within the Federal Government, has pointed out the flagrant violation of religious freedom and increasing violence targeted against religious minorities under the RSS-led Modi regime. Just two days before Bhagwat's Madison event, the USCIRF had called for Bhagwat’s visa to be revoked for “complicit in religious freedom violations”. Of course, the USCIRF recommendations, that include targeted sanctions against the Indian government, are not at all binding on the Trump regime. However, and very revealingly, while the Modi government rejected USCIRF findings, the RSS-BJP reacted sharply to the call for sanctions on RSS, through through an appeal by around 275 former Indian judges, civil servants and diplomats who came forward in defence of RSS stating that its sole concern is 'social service and nation-building'.

Bhagwat's MSG program on 29 August was scheduled in this context. In New York, as expected, hundreds of demonstrators representing Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Dalit and other interfaith organisations, under the banner "No Platform for Hate", protested outside the venue of Bhagwat's program. Some of the protestors have even equated RSS Chief's program to the N**i event that took place at MSG in 1938. However, before his declared formal event at MSG specifically held as part of RSS Centenary outreach, Mohan Bhagwat had a high-level closed-door roundtable meeting with corporate heads, industry executives, stock market specialists and Indian-American business leaders in New York City itself. In this privately held session, as reported by Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist Asha Jadeja Motwani who also participated in the corporate board-room Meet, while expressing "unshakable confidence" in Indian youth and their capability to drive real change and dismantle bureaucratic mindsets, Mohan Bhagwat also focused heavily on fostering US-India trade ties, tech synergy, and global investment. Of course, this is not surprising for those who know the integral and inseparable link between fascism and corporatism, i.e., the material basis of fascism, including RSS fascism, irrespective of its ideological foundation, is the most corrupt corporate capital. Mohan Bhagwat's private meeting with corporate heads and think-tanks underscores this fundamental law of fascism of all hues.

Of course, RSS affinity and allegiance towards the US in the postwar neocolonial period are not overnight developments. It is a postwar reincarnation or repetition of Sangh's servility to Britain till the end of the colonial phase of imperialism. And, whenever US imperialism was isolated or in trouble, the RSS was there with its unwavering solidarity and support. For instance, the RSS chief Golwalkar had sent a message of support to the American President during the Vietnam War, calling the US leader of the "Free World" against "Adharma" (meaning Communism). As we all know, during America's genocide and war-crimes on Vietnam, the Yankees had been totally isolated even from its Anglo-Saxon allies for a time. In the context of US-Zionist holocausts upon the Palestinians and US-Zionist aggression on Iran, once again, as US imperialism stands exposed before world people, RSS Chief's US visit should also be seen as part of the US-Zionist-Sanghi unholy alliance against Palestinians reaching ignominious levels.

It is not intended here to go into a debate on Bhagwat's sermon on religious harmony at MSG. His rhetoric and double-speak on Hindu-Muslim unity in America has nothing to do with the concrete reality in India where systematic and targeted violence on Muslims coupled with dienfranchisement and denial of citizenship to them are going on under Hindutva fascism. Though Bhagwat's MSG program was part of his centenary-year international outreach tour and lobbying in three countries, viz., US, Canada and UK, for reinforcing and propagating Sangh's ideology, especially among Indian diaspora, it was the unprecedented and unexpected resistance from both Americans and Indian-origin people that compelled him to speak about
the “diversity of India” and to stress that “driving out Muslims from India was NOT Hindutva”. No doubt, this approach, which is the direct opposite of what RSS is doing in India, will have its repercussions. While this revealing somersault by Bhagwat will create confusion and even despair among committed and hard-core Sanghis who substantially contribute to the Hindutva project, the opposition leaders in India have already challenged the RSS leader to openly declare the same before his ardent followers here. Further, consequent on the live relaying of the anti-RSS protests outside MSG by global media, a section of the Godi Media in India, with whom the RSS enjoyed an immunity till now, has also started reporting on the operations of RSS. No doubt, coupled with the youth protests that led to the ignominios resignation of the Minister of Education, the emerging trends do not augur well for the RSS-BJP rule in the days ahead.
