When danger returned to Srinagar, one officer saw what others missed.
Born in Kurnool, Dr GV Sundeep Chakravarthy had always dreamed of saving lives — and he does, every single day, just in a different way now.
A graduate of Kurnool Medical College, he healed people as a doctor before cracking UPSC CSE to become an IPS officer in the Jammu & Kashmir cadre.
From ASP Poonch to SSP Srinagar, his journey has been defined by courage, clarity, and calm under fire— he has won the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry six times!
And it was this operational instinct that helped him dismantle a multi-state terror web. Here's how it unfolded.
In mid-October, Srinagar woke up to something it hadn’t seen in years — Jaish-e-Mohammed posters plastered across Nowgam.
For most, it was an unwelcome reminder of the past. For IPS Chakravarthy, it was a red flag he couldn't ignore — he ordered an investigation, combining meticulous planning with swift, decisive action.
His instincts proved right — that single clue led to one of the biggest Jaish-e-Mohammed terror busts in recent years, spanning Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
This operation uncovered over 2,900 kg of explosives, bomb-making material, AK-series rifles,
and key operatives working under civilian cover.
IPS Chakravarthy's journey embodies dedication, courage, and an unwavering commitment to saving lives, going beyond mere policing. Kudos to the officer!
