On 4 May 2026, Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmad, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, visited Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and held a meeting with the Medical Director, Dr. Mrigendra Das, regarding the expansion of the Unani Specialty Clinic (USC), which has been functioning at the hospital since 2010.
The Director General was warmly received, and a constructive discussion was held on strengthening infrastructure and enhancing service delivery at the clinic.
Subsequently, the Medical Director invited the PWD team, including the Nodal Officer and Assistant Engineer, to join the consultation. A joint inspection of the Ayush Nideshalay premises was carried out along with Dr. Anwar Jamal, Research Officer (Unani). During the visit, suitable additional space was identified and mutually agreed upon.
The proposal for expansion of the Unani Specialty Clinic was positively endorsed, marking a significant step towards strengthening Ayush healthcare services and improving patient care facilities at the hospital.

The Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, successfully organized the *National Workshop on โ€˜Universal Health Coverage through Traditional Healing Practices* on 30 April 2026. The Inaugural Session was graced by the esteemed presence of *Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM*, as the Distinguished Guest of Honour, who delivered an insightful address highlighting the vital role of traditional healing systems in strengthening universal health coverage. Prof Shakir Jamil, presided over the function. Prof Asim Ali Khan, President, Board of Unani, Siddha and Sowa rigpa was the Chief Guest. Dr. Zaheer also highlighted the key achievements and initiatives of CCRUM in the field of Unani medicine, and elaborated on the importance of Innovation through evidence based research , collaboration Integration, Publication and commercialization in advancing the sector. On 28 April 2026, Dr. Ramrao D. Patil, Deputy Director General (AYUSH), visited the Unani Medical Centre (UMC), Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi, to review its progress and address issues related to the smooth functioning of the unit. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Younis Iftikhar Munshi, Deputy Director General, along with Dr. Anwar Jamal (Research Officer & Unit Coordinator) and other Unani Research Officers of RRIUM, New Delhi present during Inspection. A bouquet and rose were presented to mark the occasion.
Dr. Patil conducted a comprehensive inspection of the facility, covering the waiting area, registration counter, OPDs, Pharmacy, medicine store and Regimental Therapy Unit.
He interacted with staff, reviewed operational processes, and assessed patient service delivery.
Dr. Patil suggested exploring a unified registration system for all AYUSH streams. He emphasized dispensing medicines through the updated version of AHMIS and appreciated the efforts of the Director General, CCRUM, and expressed satisfaction with the teamโ€™s dedication under the leadership of Dr. Ziaul Haq Siddiqui, Deputy Director Incharge, RRIUM, New Delhi.
The DDG, CCRUM, highlighted the need to establish an integrated AYUSH unit offering services of all AYUSH systems under one roof. DDG, CCRUM briefed on the approved IMR project titled: โ€œEvaluating the efficacy and tolerability of oral polyherbal coded drug UNIM-301 as an add-on to DMARDs in managing Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Randomised Controlled Trialโ€, conducted in collaboration with the Department of Rheumatology of RML Hospital.
Dr. Patil emphasized the importance of strengthening infrastructure and enhancing integration within the hospital framework to further improve the functioning of the UMC.

A surprise visit to the Unani Specialty Clinic (USC) at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital was conducted on 23 April 2026 by Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmad, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine. He was accompanied by Dr. Farah Ahmad, Research Officer (Unani) and Nodal Officer, RRIUM, New Delhi.
Dr. Anwar Jamal, Research Officer (Unani), briefed the team on the functioning of the clinic. The visit focused on assessing healthcare delivery, operational efficiency, and infrastructure requirements for optimal functioning.
The Director General carried out a comprehensive inspection covering the entire patient care pathwayโ€”from registration to dispensingโ€”along with a review of inventory records and interactions with staff. He also visited the Ayush facilities within the hospital, including the Ayurveda and Homoeopathy dispensaries, highlighting the importance of integrated healthcare services.
Such visits reinforce the commitment towards strengthening AYUSH services and enhancing quality, accessibility, and patient-centric care in public health institutions.

Dr. Ramrao D. Patil, DDG (Ayush), visited the Unani Medical Centre (UMC), Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi on 21.04.2026 to review its progress as a flagship integrative healthcare unit. The visit highlighted the Centreโ€™s remarkable evolution since its inception in 2019 into a well-functioning and high-performing clinical hub.

Accompanied by Dr. Ziaul Haq Siddiqui (DD, RRIUM New Delhi) and Dr. Mohammed Wasim Ahmed (RO-U), Dr. Patil undertook a comprehensive inspection of the facility, including the waiting area, registration counter, OPDs, pharmacy, medicine store, and the temporary regimental therapy section. He was also briefed on the end-to-end patient care pathway, medicine procurement mechanisms, and key therapeutic procedures such as dry cupping.

Dr. Patil appreciated the Centreโ€™s achievement in serving over 98,755 beneficiaries in the past five years and noted the significant growth in patient attendance, with annual footfall having tripled since 2021 and currently sustaining a steady daily turnout of over 100 patients.

He emphasized that the continued strengthening of infrastructure and integration within the hospital ecosystem will further enhance the Centreโ€™s capacity to deliver quality healthcare in Unani Medicine. The 2nd Chintan Shivir 2026 was sucessfuly organized by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India and coordinated by Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) on 16thโ€“17th April 2026 at CSOI, Vinay Marg, New Delhi.

Held under the visionary leadership of Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Honble MoS, (Independent charge) Ministry of Ayush, and dynamic guidance of Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Ms. Alarmelmangai, Joint Secretary, Dr. M A Qasmi, Advisor (Unani) and Dr. N Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, the Shivir brought together experts and top notch officials for focused deliberations.

On 6th April 2026, all regular staff at NRIUMSD Hyderabad attended the "Samuhik Charcha" on the "Procurement" as part of the Sฤ€DHANA Saptah 2026. โœจ **Annual Review Meeting โ€“ Highlights (1st & 2nd April 2026)** โœจ

The Annual Review Meeting of CCRUM hqrs. was successfully conducted on 1st and 2nd April 2026 with the Incharges of all Peripheral Institutes and Units under the chairmanship of the Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmad, DG,CCRUM with the participation of Dr. Younis I. Munshi, DDG, CCRUM , Dr. Ghazala Javed AD(Unani) & Dr. R.P. Meena, AD (Chemistry), other Senior Officers, and Nodal/Programme Officers of the council.

Over the two days, all the peripheral institutes and units participated, presenting their progress, issues, achievements and Future action plan. The meeting served as a significant platform for performance review, strengthening coordination, and outlining future strategies to advance Unani research. Deliberations focused on collaborative efforts and strategic planning to enhance research outcomes across CCRUM centres.
