National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Official Handle of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), Govt. of India

NCPCR was set up in March 2007 under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, an Act of Parliament (December 2005). The Commission's Mandate is to ensure that all Laws, Policies, Programmes, and Administrative Mechanisms are in consonance with the Child Rights perspective as enshrined in the Constitution of India and also the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

NCPCR has created the POCSO Tracking Portal to provide instant and effective support to pocso victims in terms of providing help from the District Child Protection Officer, Child Welfare Committee and State Child Protection System. Now, Legal Service Authorities have also been onboarded who will provide free legal aid as well as the compensation.

Taking serious note of the recent fire accident at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, Telangana, which led to the tragic death of three newborn infants, NCPCR has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident. A Team is being sent to conduct an on-ground inquiry in the matter.

NCPCR's prompt intervention leads to the rescue of 7 minor girls from a suspected child trafficking racket in Madhubani, Bihar.

As per the complaint, minor girls from different states had allegedly been trafficked, forced to work in an orchestra, and unlawfully confined in Madhubani district. Acting on a complaint, NCPCR immediately directed the District Administration and Bihar Police to take swift action. A raid led to the successful rescue of 7 minor girls.
