Following the motion I moved in the County Assembly of Turkana on the conflict pitting Turkana South and Loima, particularly the Lopuke/Locherelim Corridor of Kotaruk/Lobei ward, I am glad that the raft of recommendations I had put forth including holding peace/conflict resolution meetings that bring on board all stakeholders are being implemented.
For the last two days starting Friday, 12th April 2024 through Saturday, 13th April 2024, together with my colleague MCAs from Loima and Turkana South as well as MPs Hon. Protus Akuja (Loima and Hon. Dr. John Ariko Namoit (Turkana South), we led a joint peace dialogue at Ekalees Center, drawing Kraal leaders, Security Teams, Professionals, Council of Elders and civil society.
The two days' peace meeting was very successful. Different groups were engaged in focus group discussions at the end to come up with recommendations on how to achieve sustainable peace between the two sub-counties. These recommendations therefore become the resolutions for the peace meeting.
There will be more peace engagement meetings that will follow and of importance is cascading these peace meetings to the affected areas in both sub-counties through joint peace caravans that will involve all stakeholders.
God bless Kotaruk/Lobei Ward, God bless Loima, God bless Turkana South and God bless Turkana County.Following the motion I moved in the County Assembly of Turkana on the conflict pitting Turkana South and Loima, particularly the Lopuke/Locherelim Corridor of Kotaruk/Lobei ward, I am glad that the raft of recommendations I had put forth including holding peace/conflict resolution meetings that bring on board all stakeholders are being implemented.
