I also visited Bhojpur district, bihar during my trip to Kashi.

From ancient Buddhist Sangha to Mughals & Brits, this place gave everyone a hard time, being the hub of resistance to big imperial powers

Its also believed that Vishvamitra had his hermitage somewhere in this very region!

Glimpses of what I witnessed in Ara 👇

I visited Kashi a few days back!! It truly is the cultural/religious capital of India!!!

Other than that it was the maternal house of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Pāṇḍu, Lakṣmaṇa, Śatrughna and in-laws’ house of Daśaratha, emperor bharata, Vicitravīrya, Vasudeva, Bhīma, Duryodhana

The Śukla Pakṣa ekādaśī of Jyeṣṭha is believed to be the day when Kṛṣṇa met his soulmate, Rukmiṇī. The day of Rukmiṇī Haraṇa. But it wasn't a rescue story like it's commonly believed to be.

Kṛṣṇa and Rukmiṇī both had heard praises of each other’s valor & beauty and had developed a mutual fascination for each other.
Rukmiṇī was the first ever woman Kṛṣṇa loved and desired

Kṛṣṇa had previously asked for Rukmiṇī’s hand, but Rukmi out of his contempt for Kṛṣṇa, refused.

The has been used by various Indian monarchies from to , to exhibit their might and dharma.

नादण्डः क्षत्रियो भाति नादण्डो भूमिमश्नुते ।
नादण्डस्य प्रजा राज्ञः सुखं विन्दन्ति भारत ॥

A Kshatriya without the staff of chastisement can never shine and enjoy the earth. The subjects of a king that is without the staff of chastisement can never have happiness.

दण्डः शास्ति प्रजाः सर्वा दण्ड एवाभिरक्षति ।
दण्डः सुप्तेषु जागर्ति दण्डं धर्मं विदुर्बुधाः ॥

The man armed with the rod of chastisement governs all subjects and protects them. The rod of chastisement is awake when all else is sleep. For this, the wise have characterised the rod of chastisement to be Righteousness itself.

दण्डः संरक्षते धर्मं तथैवार्यं जनाधिप ।
कामं संरक्षते दण्डस्त्रिवर्गो दण्ड उच्यते ॥

The rod of chastisement protects Righteousness (dharma) and Profit (artha) It protects also pleasure (kāma). 0 king! For this, the rod of chastisement is identified with the triple objectives of life.

Let's just hope, the current sovereigns of this country keep up to its legacy and honor it rightly, in practice, not just by words.

Naimisharanya in Sitapur, where Sūta narrated the entire Mahābhārata to Shaunaka, and also Pandavas visited here while on pilgrimage during their exile.

A very very common mistake that almost everyone make, is pronouncing and spelling the word ‘सहस्र’.

It's ‘सहस्र’ (Sahasra), not ‘सहस्त्र’(Sahastra).

This ashram I stayed at in Naimisharanya, was presided by Anil Kumar Shastri, who is believed to be the descendant of Vyas. He is one of the 7 brothers, amongst whom the leadership of the Vyas Gaddi rotates on an year to year basis. And this year it was with Anil Kumar Shastri ji only.

This ashram is organising a grand fire sacrifice of 250,000,000 offerings started from October 2022 and planned to complete by August, 2024, in what's said to be the largest fire altar build.
