Good trauma care starts before the hospital. It starts with you knowing not to be a spectator.

Ten years ago, patients came in and listened.

Today they come in with a printout.

That’s not a bad thing. An informed patient asks better questions. It keeps us sharp.

But something else has shifted quietly. Some patients no longer fully trust their doctor. Not because doctors have gotten worse. But because information without context breeds doubt.

Here’s what most people don’t realise: Google gives you data. A doctor gives you judgment. Those are not the same thing.

And as AI enters medicine, this gap will only grow. More information. Faster. Louder. The only antidote is trust - rebuilt, slowly, on both sides.

In the operating room we are trained to move fast when needed.
But the judgment that matters most often comes from stillness.

A few quiet minutes away from noise can change how we see things.

This evening at Serendipity reminded me of that. Places like this were never meant to be resorts or escapes. They were meant to be spaces to breathe, think and reconnect.
