For the past five years, Exploring Womanhood Foundation has proudly partnered with Warrior Fighting Championship (WFC) with a vision that goes beyond sports. We believe that sports can be a powerful tool for building not only stronger bodies and minds but also a deeper connection with nature and biodiversity.

Globally, organisations such as IUCN CEC and various conservation agencies have highlighted the importance of engaging young people in outdoor activities, leadership, and environmental stewardship. When children develop discipline, teamwork, resilience, and respect through sports, they are more likely to become responsible citizens who care for the environment around them.

Over the last five years, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation in young minds. Children and youth associated with our initiatives are showing greater awareness about biodiversity, wildlife conservation, waste management, tree plantation, and sustainable living. They understand that a healthy body thrives in a healthy environment and that protecting nature is essential for our collective future.

At Exploring Womanhood Foundation, we place special emphasis on empowering girls through sports, environmental education, and leadership opportunities. We believe that every girl who gains confidence on the field can become a future leader for conservation, climate action, and community development.

World Crocodile Day 2026 🐊

Theme: "Connecting Crocodiles and Communities"

17th June, on World Crocodile Day, we celebrate one of nature's oldest and most important reptiles. Crocodiles play a vital role in maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems, yet they continue to face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and human-wildlife conflict.

A special salute to Ranger Prem, Assistant Forester, Kota Division, Rajasthan, whose courage, dedication, and compassion are making a remarkable difference in crocodile conservation. From rescuing injured crocodiles to ensuring their care and safe rehabilitation, she is proving that coexistence between people and wildlife is possible through commitment and understanding.

Her inspiring work reminds us that conservation is not just about protecting a species, it's about protecting the ecosystems and communities that depend on them.

From forests to communities, every life is interconnected. Exploring Womanhood Foundation continues to strengthen the hands of rangers and local communities because protecting biodiversity is a shared responsibility and a collective future.

Conserving biodiversity means conserving the relationship between people, wildlife, forests, and future generations and this relationship becomes stronger when communities and rangers lead together.

2014 batch IFS officer of Maharashtra cadre Piyusha Jagtap always had a pull towards nature. She first worked in central services but later joined the Indian Forest Service; because of this, she wanted to stay closer to forests, not away from them.

But what makes it interesting is Piyusha is also an artist. She paints and writes what she sees around her, small moments from nature that most people usually miss. A broken branch, shifting light, or the silence of early morning forests.

“I wanted something that would keep me close to nature,” she says.

For her, work and passion are not separate. Forest is not just duty; it is inspiration.

During the COVID period, when everything slowed down, she started something simple.
One sketch every day.
50 days, 50 sketches.
No big plan, just observation.

Those sketches slowly turned into small stories from inside forests. Later, they became leaflets and even a small book.

Her artistic character goes beyond this.

In places like Melghat and Tadoba, she used storytelling to bring forest life closer to people. In Melghat, she even created a mascot called Bana, inspired by the Korku tribe, to explain forest ideas in a simple way.

Piyusha also worked with local communities. Families who moved out of forest areas were helped to start homestays. Many of them later grew from one homestay to several, improving their income and life.

Forest fires were another big challenge in front of her. Most were manmade. Her team worked on the ground and also built “fire-free village” models where local people helped prevent fires.

Now, as Field Director at Navegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra, Piyusha is also working on long-term nature education for school children.

At the core, her work is simple. She is just trying to bring people and forests a little closer, something deep and personal in her own quiet way.

In the scorching 45°C heat of Vidarbha, Maharashtra Forest Rangers continue their fearless daily patrols deep inside the forests, standing strong for biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection.

During one such patrol, these courageous women rangers encountered two sub-adult Sloth Bears in their natural habitat.

Their journey is not just a duty, it is a powerful example of bravery, resilience, and dedication towards protecting forests, wildlife, and the fragile balance of nature.

While many seek shelter from the extreme heat, these women walk through rugged terrains, risking their lives every single day to safeguard India’s natural heritage.
