Vice-Chancellor, UOM Congratulates EMRC Team on National Film Festival Honors

Mysuru, April 7: Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore Prof. N.K. Lokanath congratulated the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) team for winning prestigious awards at the 27th CEC-UGC Educational Film Festival, held on March 27 and 28, 2026, at Gautam Buddha University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Organised by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi, the national-level festival received 320 film entries from across the country, of which only 19 documentaries and educational videos were selected for awards.

Bringing laurels to the University, EMRC’s documentary “The Divine Sculptor – Arun Yogiraj” won the Best Film/Documentary Award. The honour was conferred on Chandra Kumar P.H., Director and Producer of the film, along with a cash prize of ₹50,000. The documentary captures the life, achievements, and craftsmanship of renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, widely recognised for sculpting the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.

In another notable achievement, Mr. K. Gopinath received the Best Editing Award (Citation) in the Individual Excellence Category for the documentary “Kalaripayattu – The Indian Martial Arts.” The film offers an insightful account of the history and legacy of one of India’s oldest martial art traditions.

The Vice-Chancellor praised the EMRC team for its continued excellence in producing high-quality educational documentaries and said the recognition reflects the University’s commitment to innovative media-based learning.

Director EMRC Mysore Dr. Ganta Ravi Kumar, along with the awardees and EMRC staff members, shared the proud moment, marking yet another milestone for the University of Mysore.

Noida, March 2026: A documentary titled “The Divine Sculptor – Arun Yogiraj”, directed and produced by Chandra Kumar P.H., Graphic Artist EMRC Mysore has won the Best Film/Documentary Award at the 27th CEC-UGC Educational Film Festival 2026, held at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Organized under the aegis of the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), the national-level festival recognizes excellence in educational filmmaking across India. The award-winning documentary highlights the life and craftsmanship of renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, bringing attention to India’s rich artistic heritage through compelling storytelling and cinematic presentation.
