DEXED

DEXED Dexed is an initiative that is identifying & filling critical gaps in design education, with special One place where the impact is most seen is in our cities.

Greetings,

We are witnessing something dramatic all around us. Our social and economic fabrics are being tugged at in various directions, catalysed by demographic shifts and technological advancements. They are bursting at the seams and struggling to cope with huge influx of population, largescale construction, ill-planned urbanization and ultimately, degraded quality of life. While it may sound

clichéd, such chaos is necessary to shake us out of our reverie and finally tackle the immediate imperatives head-on. This can happen only through a widespread embracing of design in all its manifestations – architecture, urban planning, interiors, manufacturing, product innovation, visual art, etc. A solution is at hand – if we believe that learning is continuous and if we have the hunger to enhance our skills outside the classroom too. Allow, me to introduce Dexed, an initiative that is identifying & filling up critical gaps in design education, with special attention to the areas of overlap across disciplines. Dexed is uniquely positioned at the cross roads of Design and Education. The Dexed platform is nurturing design education through the following avenues:
• Editorial exploration that curates the approaches & practices in design education
• Connect and equip the design industry by engaging in conferences and workshops
• Create online learning content & tools to compliment professional design education.
• Integrate product solutions to actualize learning
• Facilitate a bridge between professional practice and aspiring students

I would urge every one of you, my trusted friends & colleagues, to help us address some large gaps in the way our design and ecosystems interact:
1) Lack of sync between government agendas and their implementation
2) Lack of rigour in academic discourse to train competent professionals
3) Lack of scope of academic discourse to prepare young professionals for real life challenges. We are soliciting an opportunity to meet you and explore ways in which we could collaborate. Feedback form for "City & Streets" workshop: https://goo.gl/forms/ey7KXJHvGTyNpcD02

From sports to space... When the students asked NASA astronauts what brought them the most joy while in space, the most frequent answers were looking out the window and growing plants.

The challenge of building a comfortable, live-able environment doesn't just start when the astronauts reach Mars. The journey is estimated to take six to eight months in a transit habitat, followed by an 18 to 20 month stay on the ground—until the planets align for the same return trip.-(text) Fastcodesign.com

Human-centered design is important on Earth. It's even more critical in space.
