The Chief Economist of the World Bank cautioned that escalating hostilities between the United States and Iran could reignite inflationary pressures, keep interest rates elevated, and slow global economic growth to as low as 1.3%, compared with 2.9% last year.

The assessment noted that while the conflict poses significant risks to the global economy, major economies such as India, the United States, and China are relatively better insulated from its direct economic impact.
