Lok Satta Party (LSP) Mumbai - Maharashtra A liberal party seeking political reform, free economy, and good governance. Founded by IAS officer turned reformer and thinker Jayaprakash Narayan.

Lok Satta started as an NGO for electoral and political reforms. It has contributed to bringing about significant legislations like RTI, mandatory declaration of candidates' financial and criminal history, judicial reforms, Lok Pal Bill etc, to name a few. cipation of citizens in local governance (Nagar Raj Bill) etc. We learnt that shouting from outside a political system can never yield desired results, because laws are made by those in the parliament. Secondly, if we want to see good people back in politics, we need credible alternatives. Today's political parties are caught in the vicious trap of dynasty, money power and divisive agendas. A capable person with good intention is pushed down because what works is not your capability to do good, but money power, sensationalism and who you know

The only alternative was to create a new party in which members (not high commands) identify the candidates through internal elections and by creating strong barriers against illegal and black money funding (hurting our initial growth, but preventing the party to fall prey to corruption based politics)

The Bombay High Court has denied permission to the Maharashtra government from renewing an agreement that allowed the Maharashtra Cricket Association to use water from the Pavana Dam to prepare the stadium and pitch for cricket matches, including the Indian Premier League or IPL.

The tragedy in mumbai when 23 people were crushed to death on a small railway bridge at eliphinstone was waiting to happen. Something more serious is waiting to happen in one way or the other at various other places. There are so many railway bridges of british era still in use and if not replaced then the tragedy is waiting to happen. Any of those railway bridge can collapse and again we will be discussing the same.About creating local railway authority for Mumbai Suburban Railway will help in faster decisions and better facilities. Sadly, inspite of the fact that WE have demanded for the same number of times, no attention was paid for the same. Railways itself is a giant organisation. Western and central railway have to look after much work and therefore to focus on mumbai and it's suburban railways, there is a need for LOCAL INTEGRATED AUTHORITY with focus on mumbai suburban. Simple solution, but we get nothing more than politics. The government is busy in subsidising RELIGIOUS Pilgrimages and have no fund to replace old and waiting to fall bridges !!!Shameful... Another victory for Loksatta. Government agrees to empower municipalities financially. Municipal bonds are allowed for local infrastructure projects. Challenging local governments to govern well to attract pvt funds. Directly elected empowered mayor is being pushed now for good, accountable governance along with institution of lokadhikari. Pray for success.
