About Us:-
The founder of the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Mandir Trust, Late Shri. Madhav Krishna Deshpande, was an Advocate by profession and a renowned freedom fighter. Since his childhood, he was a close associate of Late Acharya Vinoba Bhave.
In the year 1947, with the idea and objective of serving the people in accordance with the principles of Sarvodaya тАУ Good of All тАУ as laid down by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, Late Shri. Madhav Krishna Deshpande along-with his friends Mr. Semlani, Mr. Bhat, Mr. Jethabhai and Ms. Samant, founded the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Mandir Trust. Subsequently, these 5 friends with a contribution of Rs. 2,000/- each purchased a piece of land admeasuring 2000 sq. mts. at Bandra (West) in Mumbai. At the midnight of 14th тАУ 15th August 1947 our national tricolour was hoisted on this plot, thus commencing the activities of the Trust. A small structure was built for conducting various medical and social activities.
Further, Late Shri. Madhav Krishna Deshpande arranged to donate 76 acres of land owned by the Deshpande Family of Arale, situated at the remote and hilly village of Gudhe Pachgani in Shirala Taluka of Sangli District of Maharashtra. This land is situated at any altitude of 3200 ft. above sea level.

Activities: -
1. Bandra Centre: -
Today, the seeds sown by Late Shri. Madhav Krishna Deshpande have become a growing tree. From the small construction made by him and his 4 friends have become a 4 storied building. His son Late Shri. Sreeniwas Deshpande (popular known as Bapu Kaka) took over the challenge of making the dreams of his father after his death in the year 1984. In the year 1995 Late Shri. Sreeniwas Deshpande along-with the Godrej group of companies constructed the current 4 storied building of about 22,000 sq.ft. area.
The following activities are conducted at this Bandra Centre: -
1) Arogya Seva Kendra works as per the Government scheme guidelines and the indigent patients are treated free of cost.
2) Two Fully Equipped Operation Theatres are running under the mission of charging the patients a very small nominal fee.
3) 20 Beds IP ward for the Recovery of the patients is fully equipped to meet any emergency.
4) Dental Department with a mission to provide services to poor and the needy at very nominal or mostly free fees is equipped with high tech dental machinery is working with renowned visiting dentists located across the city of Mumbai, offering their services free of cost.
5) Pathological Laboratory which serves a very important role in health care for investigating the illness.
6) ENT Department with visiting and permanent doctors provides its services at a negligible fee.
7) Ophthalmological services are provided for making the country better visioned.
8.)Paediatrics services.
9) Skin Care Services and treatments.
10) Gynaecology Services and consultancy.
11) Orthopaedics treatments and services.
12) Blood Bank is the most important part of saving human life.
2. Gudhe Centre: -
The Gudhe Pachgani Centre consists of the 76 acres of land donated with a mission of providing the best of the education in the rural and hilly areas of Sahyadri mountains. The location of this place makes it a hilly and mountainously terrain area and is having the boundaries of Satara, Ratanagiri and Kolhapur districts. The following are the activities conducted at the Gudhe Centre: -
1) School: - The Trust commenced educational activity in Gudhe on 14th November 1991 by starting a Secondary School with just 14 students. This school is named after the founder and his spouse тАЬShree Kamala Madhav Vidya MandirтАЭ. As of today the school has 283 students for its 5th Standard to 10th Standard curriculum. Currently the school is 40% Government Granted. Girl Education is the most important priority of our trust and for this the Trust tries to persuade the local Adivasi and other tribal communities to understand the importance of Girl Education.
2) Bus Service: - Since this school is situated at a very mountainous terrain, there is very heavy rainfall activity. Due to these students are provided a pick-up and drop facility. The trust owns 2 buses for providing this service free of cost.
3) Mid-day Meal: - Students are provided break-fast as well as mid-day meal at this centre.
4) Computer Lab: - A very well equipped and upтАУto-date computer training facility with high speed internet is provided free of cost to the students.
5) Books, Notebooks and Uniforms are provided free of cost to the students.
6) Live Stock Management: - Since 2001 a diploma course in Livestock management, Animal Husbandry and Dairy production is provided. These are accredited with Nagpur University. They include: -
(A) Dairy Production: - Courses in dairy set-up, production and growth are provided here.
(B) Goat and sheep Rearing: - Training in goat and sheep rearing is provided here.
(C) Poultry: - Courses in set-up, management and growth of poultry are provided here.
(D) Fodder Production: - Training in fodder production, hydroponics, etc. is provided here.
(E) Bee-keeping Training,
(F) Rose Farming Training,
(G) Water Management consultancy and training.
3. Cultural Activities: -
At both the centres musical and cultural activities are conducted. Renowned singers and musicians come and perform for free at free for all Bandra music lovers club of the Trust. Various competitions are conducted on state and national levels by this club.
Donations made to Our Trust are eligible for deduction under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
Our Trust is also registered for CSR funding and activities under CSR provisions required for a company.
